Emma Desirée Comer works at the intersection of weaving and sculpture. Using discarded fishing ropes as her primary medium, she explores tension as both a physical and conceptual force through weaving and knotting. In her woven works, she translates the structural qualities, tension, and tactile character of rope into tapestries, while her sculptural practice reimagines the material through processes of transformation and traditional craft techniques.

Sébastien Alouf Is a multimedia artist and visual craftsman. His practice is driven by a constant curiosity for materials, surfaces and reproduction techniques. Having explored collage, drawing, painting, printed imagery and video, he also turns to textiles as a new field of experimentation.

Sebastien Alouf uses tufting not to make rugs, but works that are closer to tapestry. He systematically chooses to show the reverse side of his pieces, tufting wool into jute fabric. This gives the work a rawer quality and brings its visual language closer to the sense of displacement that characterises his drawing and painting.

What particularly interests him in this technique is the constraint imposed by the material itself. Less malleable, wool forces him to make more radical choices, which he can then carry back into his painting practice. For Sebastien Alouf, each technique becomes a way of learning from the others: the constraints, gestures and possibilities inherent to each medium feed into his practice as a whole. In his work, one technique always teaches something to the others.

Lisette de Greeuw (b. 1990) is a Dutch artist who lives and works in Belgium. She graduated from LUCA School of Arts in Ghent with degrees in Fine Arts (2012) and Textile (2014), and completed the postgraduate programme at HISK (Higher Institute for Fine Arts) in Ghent (2018–2019).
De Greeuw was a resident at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam (2021–2023) and has completed residencies at Cité internationale des Arts in Paris (2024) and Kouraku Kiln in Arita, Japan (2026), among others. She has received grants from the Mondriaan Fund, including the Artist Basis grant (2025–2029), as well as multiple grants from Flanders State of the Arts.
Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions at institutions and galleries including FRAC Grand Large in Dunkerque, M HKA in Antwerp, S.M.A.K. in Ghent, Josilda da Conceição Gallery and galerie dudokdegroot.

Te verwachten:
Vanuit een liefde voor Bartók en een half jaar studeren in Boedapest ontstond een vraag: “Waar komt die volksmuziek die Bartók fascineerde precies vandaan én wat kunnen wij daarmee doen?’

Gitariste Marie-Lou Debels en violiste Ruth Mareen ontdekten dat volksmuziek eerst en vooral ontstaat vanuit een samenzijn. Gewoon mensen die elkaar ritmes en melodieën doorgeven op gehoor: voor- en naspelen, zonder iets op te schrijven. Een concept dat heerlijk samenvalt met de missie van RAAS. In Balkansplinters combineert dit duo muziek van Béla Bartók en Mart Flecijn met traditionals uit Hongarije, Bulgarije en Roemenië.
Het duo bracht dit programma voor het eerst tijdens het Klarafestival afgelopen lente op de reeks ‘Young Artists in the City’. Sinds het begin van hun studies aan het Lemmensinstituut in Leuven en aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Den Haag brengen ze volksmuziek uit alle hoeken van de wereld. In 2025 bewees het zich tijdens de halve finale van de Supernova wedstrijd (radio Klara).

Marie Mees (°1956, lives and works in Ghent) creates textiles where pure simplicity and attention
to detail meet. In her creations, art and design flow seamlessly into one another. A love for the
traditional skills of hand-spinning and hand-weaving textiles forms her starting point. She
collaborates with local artisans in Nepal who produce high-quality and sustainable handwork
using Tibetan highland wool. At her invitation, they dye the wool with plant-based pigments in
carefully selected solid tones, weave it into specific formats with balanced colour proportions. A
professional ethic that engages respectfully with local practice is central to this process. Marie
Mees then intuitively composes the materials into a sensory experience by interweaving,
cutting, and/or working them with subtle accents. In this way, small, intimate textile collages
emerge alongside minimalist runners — also referred to as ‘textile panels’. Hung or laid flat, they
explore the boundaries between art, architecture, and matter. They connect time and space, and
make a quiet serenity tangible.
Marie Mees also had a design agency, Maison Mees - Biasino. They developed ideas for, among
others, architects such as Marie-José Van Hee and Robbrecht & Daem, Galerie Maniera, and
design label Valerie_Objects. Marie was also a master mentor at Luca School of Arts.
