Black Adam by Bless Hirwa

From a grey, foreboding landscape emerges a veiled figure — his face partly obscured, his silhouette crowned with a traditional Rwandan hairstyle that rises as a quiet testament to heritage and identity. The air is thick with smoke and time, the surface steeped in traces and stains that speak of struggle, transience, and rebirth. An arrow cuts through the space and pierces a glowing apple — a symbol of knowledge, temptation, and humanity’s restless search for meaning.
In Black Adam, Bless Hirwa intertwines mythic and personal dimensions into a soulful vision of confrontation and transformation. The work breathes a restrained monumentality, where light and shadow become not only visual, but also moral and spiritual forces.
Bless Hirwa (born in 2001, Bugesera, Rwanda) lives and works in Kigali.
