The history of the gallery dates back to 1994 when it started as Salar Center for communication and art. In 2001, the Center closed its doors and became the studio of renowned artist Gastón Ugalde. In 2008 it changes its name to Salar Galería de Arte, which becomes a platform for dialogue and education of Contempor
ary Bolivian Art abroad. The gallery represents a select group of international artists and participates in various art fairs and exhibitions in America, Asia and Europe. Salar collaborates with other galleries and cultural institutions around the world through various initiatives that aim to increase the understanding and appreciation for contemporary art within the national and global audiences it serves. From its inception, Salar has been characterized by its strong curatorial direction and vision.

La historia de la Galería se inicia en el año 1994 como Centro de Artes y Comunicaciones Salar cuyo objetivo principal era el de promover la escena del arte local en sus diversas formas y apoyar a nuevos talentos emergentes. En el año 2001, el centro cierra sus puertas y el espacio se convierte en el estudio del reconocido artista Gastón Ugalde. El 2006 cambia de nombre a Salar Galería de Arte la cual se convierte en una plataforma de dialogo y de educacion del arte contemporaneo Boliviano en el extranjero. La Galería representa a un selecto grupo de artistas internacionales y participa en diferentes ferias de arte y exhibiciones en America, Asia y Europa. Salar realiza colaboraciones con galerias e instituciones culturales en todo el mundo mediante diferentes iniciativas con el fin de incrementar el entendimiento y la aprecaición del arte contemporaneo dentro de las audiencias nacionales y globales en las que se desenvuelven. Desde sus inicios, Salar se ha caracterizado por su fuerte dirección curatorial y visión.
