Our vision is to create a place where all generations can come together to learn, explore, and celebrate elephants — and to deepen our understanding of the incredible elephant population we live alongside here in Chobe 🐘

By sharing knowledge, stories, and experiences, we hope to inspire pride, curiosity, and a lasting connection to these iconic animals that are in their backyards. The future of elephants and people living together starts with the next generation that lives closest to them.

🐘✨Watching Elephants of the Chobe River.

There’s something magical about sitting quietly by the water and watching an elephant family together. From playful calves mud wallowing on the banks of the river to the matriarch leading with wisdom, every moment tells a story of connection.

Standing next to an elephant’s track is a playful reminder of just how big, powerful, and gentle these animals are.

How much water does an elephant really need? 💧

When you come visit the centre you can see this impressive installation which shows the enormous daily water needs of an elephant 🐘

Did you know? An elephant drinks 100- 200 litres per day!

The Elephant Centre helps visitors of all ages understand elephant biology, resource needs, and why protecting water sources is essential for conservation.

Did you know that an elephant’s ears aren’t just for listening? They’re nature’s built-in air conditioners!

🩵 Beneath that thin layer of skin lies a network of thousands of blood vessels. When an elephant flaps its ears, it helps circulate cooler blood through its body, dropping its temperature by several degrees.
🩵 The shape of their ears even mimics the map of Africa — a fun coincidence for the world’s largest land mammal!
🩵 In the heat of the day, elephants often face the breeze, spread their ears wide, and slowly flap — turning the savanna into their own natural fan zone.

So next time you see an elephant flapping its giant ears, remember: it’s not just saying hello 👋 — it’s staying cool! 😎

Winding gently along the northernmost boundary of Botswana, the Chobe River is a lifeline for the wilderness. Its waters shimmer gold at sunrise, reflect fiery skies at sunset, and provide a stage for hippos, crocodiles, countless birds, and of course, elephants 🐘

Every ripple tells a story of life, survival, and connection, from the tiniest fish to the mighty giants that drink at its banks.

This is our home. Come visit!
