Did you know? KAZA TFCA is home to the world’s largest contiguous transboundary elephant population.

This Elephant Day, we celebrate the African savanna elephants of the Kavango Zambezi Trans Frontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA), which spans Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe and supports more than 50% of Africa’s remaining savanna elephants.

As a keystone species and a shared natural heritage of the KAZA landscape, elephants play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems while contributing to the region’s tourism and conservation economy.

Protecting elephant corridors means protecting connectivity and the future of our shared landscape.

Today we welcomed pupils from Mabele Primary School to the Botswana Elephant Centre, where they discovered more about elephants before heading out onto the Chobe River to put their new knowledge into practice 🐘

They explored, asked questions and experienced the landscape they call home 🇧🇼 And, of course, they all became Junior Elephant Experts 🙌🏽

A day of elephants, learning, adventure and fun, with plenty of questions along the way ✏️

When you come visit the centre you can see this impressive installation which shows the enormous daily water needs of an elephant 🐘

Did you know? An elephant drinks 100- 200 litres per day!
