Emma here.
I’m moving.

After ten years of making pots and sharing them with you all from my Jerseyville home, I’m moving. I’ll still be making pots in the future, but not in this space.

The shop has taken many forms in its ten years. We started as a modern day general store that carried local honey and milled flours, artisan tea and bath products, cards, and eco products sourced through Canadian suppliers. Over time the space shifted into a gallery where I curated collections of work from artists across the country. I’d made folks who visited a pot of coffee, take them on a tour of the yard, and introduce them to the chickens. I got to meet so many interesting people who came through the front door - a woman crossing the country on foot, a man cycling across the world, a gentleman who regularly stopped for a tea on his way to the neighbouring town, travelling on a fold up bicycle. Families who stopped in to buy icecream and poke around on a summer day. A lot of folks who loved art and knew the lingo and drove from far away to find us. And a lot of folks who didn’t - those folks who walked in, stunned, looking to buy ci******es or a chocolate bar and wondered how they managed to end up in a wee shop that smelled like a woodstove and was brimming with handmade wares instead. They usually were delighted to have stumbled upon us.

There was a hammock in the studio where kids would play and relax while their parents shopped. A piano in the corner that my friend played every year at Christmas time. Everyone loved Frankie, my studio cat, who would flop on the floor in a sunbeam right as they walked in.

We held concerts in the studio, two evening aerial performances in the garden, and hosted guests for the local studio tour. Last year, after moving downstairs, I set up pots for sale in my living room and late at night customers lounged on the rug by the fireplace after collecting treasures to take with them. The space has always been a place to gather, to slow down, and to view art in a space that feels like home. I’m chuffed to have shown and supported dozens of artists whom I deeply respect, and am so grateful for their trust in me. I believe that wherever I and my studio practice land in the future, that I will still be committed to developing community, supporting and sharing artists with the public, and offering a space where artwork can be enjoyed slowly.

the details
Join me in celebrating 10 years in this building - honouring the space that has gifted me so much in my life and career. It will be sad to leave, but I am very excited to see what comes next!

I will have a fresh load of work for you to look through and take home if you’d like - I just fired my woodkiln this fall and will be unloading on Friday. The holidays will be around the corner, so perhaps you’d like to give the gift of woodfired ceramics this year.

I will also have heavily discounted work that has been here for a time and needs a loving home - I’m moving, so (almost) everything needs to go.
