ITALIAN HERITAGE MONTH EXHIBIT 2026

Monday, June 1st, 2026, 7pm
Flag raising at Aurora Town Square followed by opening reception at the Royal Rose Gallery.

Royal Rose Gallery proudly presents Sette Donne Forti: Seven Strong Women - A Celebration of Legacy, Womanhood, and the Enduring Beauty of Italian spirit.

Curated by Rosa Calabrese, this refined and deeply personal exhibition brings together seven extraordinary women, who span three generations, and whose stories, voices, and creative expressions embody resilience, identity, and the richness of Italian tradition.

Through art, narrative, and presence, Sette Donne Forti pays tribute to the profound influence of women who have shaped families, and culture through their commitment to lineage, countless acts of service and tireless work in their homes and communities.

Arcavacata, far in distance from where I live today but so close to my heart. My history, my family story, and it all starts here, in this small corner of Calabria, Italy.

From humble beginnings and sacrifice to strength and success. As a first-generation Canadian born to Italian immigrant parents, I am passionate about learning more about my roots. This is the reason why I started organizing Italian Heritage Month (June) celebrations in Aurora last year. Meeting founders of organizations who are perserving the stories like The Quiet Immigrant Project and ITALUS has been inspirational. Having conversations with community members who also have an italian connection brings so much joy. Whether it is a shared memory, a recipe, or an espresso and biscotti, the connections helps us to thrive.

I invite community members from Aurora and neighboring towns to come celebrate Italian Heritage. Special events all month long, art exhibit, film screening and exhibition soccer game (to name a few)

A special thank you to all committee members who have helped organize events, the Town of Aurora for welcoming ideas with open arms and to our month long event sponsors, Remax Osborne/Goddard and Delmanor Oak Ridges. (Sponsorship opportunities still available, DM to inquire)

Would love to hear from you! Comment, like, share and follow to stay up to date with more details.

"My art is influenced by the rugged and beautiful landscape of Georgian Bay and Muskoka. Many of my paintings feature an abstracted view of the clear blue waters, rough shoreline, windswept pines, and iconic granite rock formations that characterize this area." - Andrea Taylor, artist
