Bird doodles!

Just doodling while ‘three little birds, on my doorstep’ rolls through my mind. Funny how many emotions you can see.

White pine. Fleur-de-lis which represents ‘fidelity and unity among the people’. I find it hard to put a piece down. Often I will pick a piece back up after months and add something.

Black Cherry. Still much to do but I was unsure of the pyrography so I jumped ahead. I design as I go and everything is a one off so no restrictions. For a change I am looking at colouring the carved dogs based on the Book of Kells. Maybe red and green on their armour? Should get this one finished this year!

Who knew, eh?
A red cardinal symbolizes hope, renewal, spiritual messengers, and enduring love, often appearing as a comforting sign that a departed loved one is near, bringing messages of guidance and reassurance. Its vibrant color signifies vitality, passion, and life, while its strong pair bonds represent devotion; it's also seen as a symbol of self-confidence, protection, and new beginnings.
Common meanings and symbolism:
Spiritual Messengers: A prevalent belief is that cardinals are visitors from heaven, bringing messages from lost loved ones, a reminder they are watching over you.
Hope & Renewal: Their bright red stands out, symbolizing vitality, strength, new beginnings, and the promise of spring, even in winter.
Love & Devotion: Cardinals mate for life, making them symbols of strong relationships, commitment, and enduring love, especially during grief.
Guidance & Protection: They can be seen as protective figures, guiding you through difficult times and reminding you that you're not alone.
Energy & Courage: The fiery red color represents passion, life force, and the encouragement to be bold and truthful in your own life.
Cultural significance:
Native American Traditions: Often viewed as spirit messengers, bringing guidance and symbolizing the life force and passion within.
Christianity: Can symbolize the blood of Christ, representing sacrifice, or everlasting life and vitality.
In relationships:
For singles: May signal an upcoming romantic connection.
For couples: Can mean a renewed spark or a reminder to focus on your partner.

Kolrosing is a Scandinavian wood art technique used to create decorative patterns by incising thin lines into wood and filling them with a dark pigment. Now I know what I have been doing on a recent spoon!
