The museum is closed tomorrow but open on Tuesday with regular scheduled hours. The last day for summer opening is Friday, August 22nd.
ON ANOTHER NOTE: and I have said this before. So much work has been accomplished within the building this year. The digitizing and cataloging artifacts has been the main focus. Shelbi and Erin work together not only during the season but into the off season. Originally we gave this job 3-4 years to complete and their efforts have been beyond exceptional. They are well on track with their efforts.
Once again I acknowledge board members. They quietly do things on their own time and contribute in so many ways. Such examples include wiring, moving artifacts, trimming grass, planting flowers, putting up curtain rods and sewing curtains, reorganizing displays, and helping with fund raisers . If I have missed any members’ contributions u know u r appreciated.
This year we said goodbye to Toon and Vic Cozens , long time board members , as they have moved to Calgary but their contributions over the years have made the museum what it is today. We still ask for input from afar ; their hearts are true Binscarth people.
Recently we checked the guest book and over 700 people have passed through the museum this season. That is a 600% increase over from many years past.
Our committee is growing and we have members ages 30 plus to 92. George, our most senior member , has spent many hours with Shelbi and Erin helping them to catalog items. Many times when I walk into the building , George is assisting them. What a wonderful generational connection.
Our current board members are : Joel Boucher, George Boucher, Rene Cadieux, Sandra Cadieux, Laurie Polding , Adrienne Falloon, Renata Stewart, Crystal Woodhouse, Joan Robinson, Robin Robinson, Ruth Illingworth, Erin O’Grady, Brenda Christie, Toon and Vic Cozens ( acknowledged ) and new member Kyleah Tanner.
This year our summer student is Shelbi McFalarne (2 years ) Any summer student we have had over the years since I joined the board in 2017 , has put their own twist on making the museum what it is today.
Gordon Orr had a vision and I think he would be proud of where his museum is today ; thanks to the people who contributed in the past and the ones who carry on his legacy.
To date , we are vibrant and moving forward. This is due to a committed board and the support of the community. We thank everyone for making the museum what it is today and into the future.
