To all of our Canadian Friends,, Happy Canada Day!!!! And remember those Brave Men and Women that still preserves it today.

06/28/2024

2 Birthdays, all in 1 Month and only 3 Days Separate those Birthdays. Happy Canada Day, July 1st and Happy Birthday To the United States of America, July 4th.

06/28/2024

So the 1st of July will be here in around 3 days. It also marks Canada's Birthday. Canada has a small population, but is the 2nd largest Country on the planet.

It's a relative young Country, but has achieved much in a short period of time. Sure it's had it's share of up and downs, but in the end, it has not faltered.

The people is the heart of a Country, and Canada can be proud of that. While I am not a Canadian Citizen, I have studied it's history and I understand why it's a Country that is Loved by many.

Canada is one of those Country's that is respected around the world. It is a Country which is desired by many in which to move too.

I have lived here for around 16 years, even though, I didn't arrive as a landed Immigrant until 2012. Up until than I came quite often as I married my Canadian wife in 2008.

I see this Country as a place in which you as a individual can achieve much. If your willing to put forth the effort, you can go far.

If your one to gripe and complain about everything, than your not going to go very far.

Like many Country's were divided over political differences, and if you buy into what the politicians are trying to sell you, than your missing out on what this great Country has to offer. Politics is just that Politics.

Live and accept Canada for what it is, a great place to Live, work and Play. Many men and women has paid the ultimate price so we can live in a free and open society.

It's a Country in which we should all be blessed to live in.

So enjoy Canadas Birthday, it's a Great Country. July 1st is that day. So get out and enjoy it.

Earlier today, as I walked to the edge of Lake Erie, here at our Summer Cottage which stands above Lake Erie, I was reminded of yesterdays, memorial services held in France in tribute to those Countries, which liberated France from N**i Germany in WW2. And too all those Brave men and women, which sacrificed so much on our behalf.

While overlooking Lake Erie and Canada which is on the Northern Edge of Lake Erie and The United States, which sits on the Southern Ende of Lake Erie, you can only imagine what it was to be there in France on D Day, and seeing those 9000 plus ships, loaded with men, equipment and supplies heading to those French Shores on June 6th, 1944. here you are a French citizen and the Liberation of France is just minutes away from the Liberation of occupied France.

As a German soldier standing there you look outward and see the Greatest armies ever gathered in world history and you know it's time to turn and run.

Than it happens the ships hit 5 separate Beachheads, all about 10 miles in length. Beaches given code names, like Omaha, Utah, Sword and Gold and one called Juno. The ships hit the shores, doors and ramps open and the Liberation of France has begun.

Over 100,000 thousands of troops from 12 Countrys pour out from those ships on that day. and more to come in the days and months afterwards. On the Frist day of the liberation of France and the defeat of N**i Germany in the year to follow, Thousands paid the ultimate sacrifice and we the Living is the recipients of those that did.

I watched those services from the comfort of our summer cottage and looked at those men and women who was present on D Day 1944 and who were now apx 98 Plus years of age and who said they would do it again.

So I salute all those Men and Women who stood against the forces of Evil. I salute them all. Thank you.

Politics, Politics, and more Politics. Weather you agree or disagree Politics is here to stay. Sometimes we fail to realize that we the People who vote elect these politicians to represent us.

This year Marks the 80th Anniversary since Operation Overlord, IE D Day, IE Normandy Invasion. Those events Played out on June 6th, 1944. They played out on around 5 Beach Heads.

Omaha and Utah Beaches were to be taken by the Americans, Juno Beach was to be taken by the Canadians, Sword and Gold Beaches were to be taken by the British and a Mixture of our Allies.

During the course of those Days and weeks, over 100, 000 Troops lost their lives.

Even today more bodies from that war is still being discovered.
As I was referring to Politics at the beginning of this post, The Supreme Court of France ruled that A condo Project could be built on The Juno Beach Battlefield, where Canadians fought and died for that Country Called France. On that Battlefield is a WW2 Museum in tribute to those brave Canadians.

As the 80th Year approaches of D Day in June of 2024, my wife and I am in the stages of Purchasing AirLine tickets and Hotel reservations etc for those D Day memorial services on those Beach Heads. During the Planning Stages we discovered that The High Court of France Green Lit the Condo Development on those Hallowed grounds, that was 2 years ago, So I went online for a follow up to that Condo Project and seen that the Liberal Gvt of Canada said not so fast, so they joined Forces with people of that area and Contributed Millions of Canadian Tax payer Dollars and combined it seems they purchased the Land in which the Condo Project was to be built on.

If the Canadian Gvt didn't step up Canadas Contribution in that war would in my Opinion would have been for nil. And all those Canadians that fought and died there would have been meaningless. So sometimes our Politicians do the right thing.

In this case they did. Other wise those Hallowed grounds would have a big Condo Project on that Beach and those Battlefields.

So our plans to attend those services in France is going to go ahead. So if all works out we'll have Pictures and Videos later this summer. So stay tuned.

The Blenheim Military Museum is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 1pm to 4 pm. It will remain this way until The end of June, when we get a Summer Student.

This year Marks the 100th year since the founding of the RCAF, also on June 6th 2024, the 80th Year since, Operation Overlord, Or D-Day, this year it will be held at Omaha Beach in France. This is for Canadian Forces also, As we know Canadian Forces landed on Juno Beach.

This year it will be at Omaha Beach.

We will be open for the Blenheim Classic Car Show also, as well as other special events. So come on over and learn things you may not know.

In coming Weeks I plan on working on some videos to introduce you to the Museum and the Volunteers that staff the Museum.

Haven't posted in awhile, but as you know we have been closed for a while. Closed for winter months. So in April the first, Thursday of the month we will be reopening. We will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 1 to 4 pm or what ever the Volunteer decides to do around four. He or she may close at four or later depending if someone is there looking around. In June after school is out than we will open earlier and close around five if we have a summer student.

Also the Canadian Airforce will be 100 Years Young. Also this year marks the 80th year since D- Day. So this year there will be a Special Ceremony for D day. It will be held at Omaha Beach in France. In all likely hood this will be the last year that a Canadian Veteran who landed on one of those beaches in France will be in attendance as Canadian War vets from ww2 that landed on those beaches will be alive.

As most vets from that war is late 90's and that means late.

WW2 Vets in Canada will in all likely hood will be gone before Americans, this is based on Population. So if your going to be in or near France on June 6th 2024 than pay your respects to a Great Generation.

As for myself a Retired Military Veteran, my wife and I am thinking of going. In the future I will post more.

Christmas is now past, New Year’s Day will be here shortly. I know I haven’t posted in a while, at this time of year somethings get pushed aside, coupled with being outside of the country, that doesn’t help either, but when your spouses family lives overseas, than you have to travel to see them!

So what’s new at the museum, we recently had a new metal roof installed, so that means, we won’t need to replace the asphalt one we had for years!

So that’s a good thing! When we took our trip overseas, you always learn something new, when we think of where our Canadian war dead is we think of places like Vimy Ridge in France or numerous other Canadian military cemeteries!

As you may know, my wife is from the Philippines, but has been in Canada for over 30 years now, and is now a Canadian Citizen.

In the Capitol city of the Philippines named Manila, there is Two Military cemeteries, both are American Military cemeteries, one is called the American Military Cemetery and is located right at the Manila skyline, so when you look out the skyscrapers windows you will see it!

The other Military cemetery is Called Clark, it is located on what was the American Airforce Base of the same name, Clark AB has been closed due to the the huge volcano eruption of around 20 years ago!

Both cemeteries is maintained by American Battlefield Commission. This commission has been tasked with ensuring that these Cemeteries are maintained, with the highest standards!

To be interned at these cemeteries, you must be a military veteran and meet the criteria of the Battlefield Commission and the host country!

In the Philippines there is no Canadian Military Cemetery, but history tells us Canadian military members served in the Country of the Philippines, at Clark Military Cemetery, these is one gravesite, which is not a American war dead. There is American war dead and Philippine scouts who served with American forces there from ww2!

At Clark the Battlefied commission approved the burial of A Canadian military veteran there, who served with the Canadian Royal Navy, from many many years ago!

So this Canadian veteran lies with those he served with!

So as winter is here the Museum is now closed until around the second week of April 2024, so we’ll see you in 2024!!! Keep safe and Happy New Years!

Let us the Living give Thanks to all our Military Veterans. Let us remember their sacrifices. They do it not for themselves, but for all of us. If not for all Military Veterans Past, Present, and Future, we would not be the Nation we our today.

They made numerous sacrifices, and they still do. So let us Honor them and all they have done. So on November 11th, attend a service and give thanks. Lest We Forget!!

Technical Sergeant John A. Chapman distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism as an Air Force Special Tactics combat controller, attached to a Navy Sea, Air, and Land (SEAL) Team conducting reconnaissance operations in Takur Ghar, Afghanistan, on March 4, 2002. During insertion, the team's helicopter was ambushed causing a teammate to fall into an entrenched group of enemy combatants below. Sergeant Chapman and the team voluntarily reinserted onto the snow-capped mountain, into the heart of a known enemy stronghold to rescue one of their own. Without regard for his own safety, Sergeant Chapman immediately engaged, moving in the direction of the closest enemy position despite coming under heavy fire from multiple directions. He fearlessly charged an enemy bunker, up a steep incline in thigh-deep snow and into hostile fire, directly engaging the enemy. Upon reaching the bunker, Sergeant Chapman assaulted and cleared the position, killing all enemy occupants. With complete disregard for his own life, Sergeant Chapman deliberately moved from cover only 12 meters from the enemy, and exposed himself once again to attack a second bunker, from which an emplaced machine gun was firing on his team. During this assault from an exposed position directly in the line of intense fire, Sergeant Chapman was struck and injured by enemy fire. Despite severe, mortal wounds, he continued to fight relentlessly, sustaining a violent engagement with multiple enemy personnel before making the ultimate sacrifice. By his heroic actions and extraordinary valor, sacrificing his life for the lives of his teammates, Technical Sergeant Chapman upheld the highest traditions of military service and reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

The ceremony took place Wednesday, August 22, 2018.[15] At an August 23 ceremony at the Pentagon attended by family and teammates, Chapman was inducted into the Hall of Heroes, a room dedicated to honor Medal of Honor recipients.[16] The next day, he was posthumously promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant and his name was added to the Medal of Honor wall at the Air Force Memorial.
