The 2026 Annual Art Auction was a huge success, thanks to our great community standing alongside us through sponsorships, in-kind donations, and enthusiastic engagement. As the major keystone fundraiser for the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, proceeds from the event help support our children's art education program, our art school and exhibitions. With continued support it enables us to help make the love of art accessible and vibrant throughout the Westman region for all ages to enjoy and explore.

Rob Lovatt of Keywest Photo image by design inc. stepped up once more to serve as our volunteer emcee, slideshow coordinator, and DJ. This is the third time in a row that he has volunteered his time and talent to guide our art auction evenings and keep things upbeat! Thank you so much for your continued support and involvement at the AGSM!

Justina McKay is a First Nations artist, originally from Minagoziibi Anishinaabe First Nation (Pine Creek), registered with Cote First Nation, now based in Brandon, who works across painting, beading, and multimedia.

In the exhibition "Reconciliation, Resilience, and Red," multimedia artist Justina McKay reflects upon and honours Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit folks who have been made missing or murdered at a rate six times higher than their non-Indigenous counterparts due to inaction, racism, and colonization. Using contemporary and traditional Indigenous art techniques, she blends utilitarian, decorative, and symbolic modes of image-making to develop a unified visual language of heritage, legacy, and presence.

On display in the Kayes Family Community Gallery at the AGSM until June 6, 2026.
