Thank you to all who attended the opening of 's 𝘼 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝, 𝙑𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙚 1: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 last Saturday 𐦂𖨆𐀪𖠋𐀪

Curated by , the Gallery was transformed together, a hand-sewn sanctuary inviting us in to rest, linger, and explore. WhiteEagle set intentions in the space before we got comfy to hear from Celina, Sylvie, and volunteers about the process and life behind this first iteration of 𝘼 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝.

led our family programming inviting participants into their own textile exploration, through colour, form, and recycling materials.

Here at AGB, we dig culture, quite literally. From throwing clay and shaping vessels in our studios to creating spaces for art, connection, and creativity, there’s always something happening at the Gallery.

Today, we were thrilled to welcome Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, Stan Cho, for a visit and he was even inspired to take the wheel!

It was a pleasure to share everything AGB has to offer, from our thought provoking exhibitions and public programming to our creative studios and beautiful green spaces. Thank you, Minister Cho, for spending time with our community and supporting arts and culture in Burlington.

We're Hiring!
Learning & Education Intern

The Learning & Education Intern (Children and Youth) will play a leadership-focused, hands-on role in supporting the planning, delivery, evaluation, and continuity of children, youth, and family programming at the AGB over a 7-month term.

This internship is designed to support emerging professionals seeking to build careers in arts education, museum education, and public programming within a public art gallery environment.

Please note that this position is being hired through funding from Young Canada Works (YCW) Building Careers in Heritage an individual may be eligible for an internship if they:
• Are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada
• Are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number);
• Are between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and
• Are a college or university graduate (certificate, bachelor's, master's or doctorate).

For the past month Celina Eceiza, Sylvie Fortin, some incredible volunteers, and the AGB team have been building the nest that is Volume 1: The life of corners, the first manifestation of Celina Eceiza’s ambitious project, A material called Earth.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟲, 𝟭-𝟯𝗽𝗺 we welcome visitors into an ephemeral architectural space that has radically transformed AGB’s Lee-Chin Family Gallery. A hand-sewn fortress, filled with sculptures ranging from handheld pieces to larger-than-life forms, this immersive space brings together soft, inviting works and solid sculptural shapes. These forms cradle colourful ceramics from the AGB's permanent collection, escapees from the collection storage shelves, some seeming to burst through the Gallery floor.

Eceiza’s installation casts off the lingering myth of artistic “genius” and the privileged, profitable format of the solo exhibition. Instead, The life of corners declares every exhibition or creative initiative is collective. No one ever does anything alone.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for 𝓢𝓮𝓮𝓭𝓼 𝓸𝓯 𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓮: 𝓐 𝓢𝓹𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓒𝓮𝓵𝓮𝓫𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 in support of the AGB! The Gallery transformed with elegant farmhouse style spring decor, a curated display from our ceramics collection, and enchanting live music from Variante Harp and Flute Duo. Guests bid on a variety of unique experiences and creative prizes in our silent auction, while supporting the Gallery's mission.

We sipped signature spring cocktails, mocktails, sustainable wines, and craft beers in the Brock Lobby before enjoying a delicious three-course farm-to-table inspired dinner, thoughtfully created by Chef Matteo Paonessa from Spencer’s at the Waterfront and dessert from Laila's Cheesecake Co.

WhiteEagle set intentions for the evening, followed by remarks from AGB's Executive Director, Emma Sankey, Earth to Table's Carl Leslie, and Michele Dent, who spoke beautifully about the Community and Medicine Garden. We also heard from artist, Celina Eceiza, and curator, Sylvie Fortin, about Celina’s upcoming exhibition opening at the Gallery on May 16. We hope you’ll join us again for this exciting exhibition opening!

Join us for AGB’s Community Garden Planting Day alongside Grow Native Halton and BurlingtonGreen. Together, we’ll plant a variety of native species in the garden beds at AGB. The garden is designed for long-term naturalization, featuring native shrubs, wildflowers, perennials, and grasses that support continuous blooms from spring through fall.

𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝘀?
