Centre for Canadian Historical Horticultural Studies - CCHHS The Centre for Canadian Historical Horticultural Studies, or CCHHS, is a centre for scholarly study established in 1979 at Royal Botanical Gardens

The Centre for Canadian Historic Horticultural Studies was established in 1979 at Royal Botanical Gardens in collaboration with the Dunington-Grubb Foundation. The goal of the centre is to foster the scholarly study of the history of horticulture in Canada. The centre includes significant archival resources. Horticultural and nursery trade catalogues constitute the largest collection within the ce

ntre. The catalogue collection includes approximately 30,000 items and is actively growing. Other collections include personal items from notable Canadian horticulturists, especially Isabella Preston. Between 1985 and 1995 the centre published "Canadian Horticultural History, a Scholarly Journal." The entire print run of the journal is available on-line at the Biodiversity Heritage Library: http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/bibliography/60850 #/summary

Researchers interested in accessing the collections should contact Dr. David Galbraith, Head of Science at Royal Botanical Gardens. Collections are accessible only by appointment. Casual browsing is not permitted.
