On May 12, 2026, the family of the late Constable Mont Alexander Wood was invited to a bridge dedication ceremony at the Best & Bass Centre in Napanee. OPP officers from across Ontario and local dignitaries attended the celebration. The celebration also recognized Constable Richard Arnold Beard. Both Constables were killed while serving their communities. What kind of work did you do growing up? As children and young adults, we cut grass, delivered papers, and did whatever was necessary to earn a few dollars. Join us on May 18th, 1pm at the Barrie Community Hall to view some of the out-of-the-ordinary work done by others across Canada in this professional documentary. Everyone welcome!

The Heritage Wall at the Cloyne Pioneer Museum is a project created to recognize and honour members of the community and former members who helped build our community. We are pleased with the response to the Heritage Wall project so far. It has been slow through the winter months, as people know we can`t mount them in the cold weather.

Now that spring is approaching and the weather warms, the promises of more will develop. We have 12 plaques mounted on the museum wall and have received very positive comments.

You can order a plaque to honour a person or family through:

Prices:
5x7 – black $25.00 with a gold trim option of $10.00 = $35.00 plus tax
10x12 – black $40.00 with a gold trim option $15.00 = $55.00 plus tax
The plaques can be portrait or landscape with symbols and or logos
This a wonderful tribute to people who have contributed to their community (past or present).

Come to our next general meeting at the Barrie Community Hall in Cloyne to meet a special guest, Sherry Pringle. Sherry is the author of "Extraordinary Women, Extraordinary Times: Canadian Women of World War II". This book was so historically significant that a docuseries was created, which will air on PBS this year. Everyone is welcome!
