The Carnegie Gallery is operated by the Dundas Art & Craft Association an incorporated non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and encouraging Canadian art and artists especially from our region. New Resource Lecture, coming up SOON! 🎤

Kamaldeep Kaur is a Hamilton-based artist working in the traditional Indian miniature technique of painting and drawing. She is currently an artist in residence at the Art Gallery of Burlington, supported by the Ontario Arts Council. Her paintings have been included in varied art exhibitions, including the Artist Project, Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, and The Other Art Fair, as well as having work in private and public collections in Canada, the US, India and beyond.

Kamaldeep will share practical strategies for artists looking to expand their visibility, from applying to art fairs and galleries to navigating the logistics of exhibiting in the US. Participants will learn how to leverage Instagram and how to develop an active online presence to build a sustainable profile beyond the studio.

This weekend is your last chance to submit your exhibition application! The portal closes after Sunday, May 31.

We are accepting solo or group applications from Emerging, Mid-career and Established Canadian Artists in any fine art or craft medium.

SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE
– 300 word Exhibition Proposal
– 250 word Artists Statement
– Biography or Curriculum Vitae
– 7 to 10 high resolution jpg images indicative of the work you are proposing to exhibit

JUNE EXHIBITIONS!

View "Treasure" by Melissa Neil, and "Small Pictures" by Katherine MacDonald starting May 29! These exhibitions wrap up on June 21.

"Treasure" is a new body of work by Hamilton-based Canadian painter, Mellisa Neil. This exhibition draws on imagery of roadside weeds, cliff faces, and seascapes. Based on photographs the artist captured in Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario, this series of oil paintings on mylar searchingly examines landscapes where grasses, flowers, and tangles of green brush can define the view.

"Small Pictures" is an exhibition of small drawings and paintings by renowned Hamilton-based painter, Katherine MacDonald. This show includes pictures of people and pictures of objects. Done in the studio, in collaboration with the model, portraits are not just a representation of an individual’s physiognomy; they are a living document of human relationships. In sharing space, in the passing of time, human connection unfolds, the nature of which is increasingly important in a period when so much of our experience is instantaneous and mediated by technology.
