Five MUST SEE items in our 70th Anniversary Exhibition!

The Downtown Dundas Banner: Chosen by Dave Tayler, Executive Director of the Downtown Dundas BIA. Dave chose the classic street banners in celebration of the town's visual history, envoking a sense of nostalgia and local pride.

A Commode Chair from 1880 was chosen by DM+A Board Member Clare Crozier. This was donated some time ago by the Crozier family, after being passed down for generations.

A button doll made by Emma Lewis Green was chosen by Kathron Hann, Executive Director of Dundas Valley School of Art. Emma was the daughter of Mary Anne-Green who escaped African enslavement in South Carolina in 1858. Each button was collected by family and friends and ties together a story of familial Black History in Hamilton.

An usher jacket from the iconic Dundas Roxy Theatre. This was chosen by Archives Volunteer Tom Tustian reminicing on the memories made there by the baby boomer generation.

Long time DM+A Volunteer Judy Morphet chose a fanciful dress from 1860. Judy fell in love with textiles at an early age, and has been sewing since age 3.

Each item in this treasured exhibition has both a historical and personal story, tying the whole community together in the past and present. See these items and more on your next trip to the museum!
