A hundred years ago, when a boy was born in a Caucasian family, he was given a dagger as a future warrior. He was called that - childish and had a belt on. At the age of 14, the young man received a bigger weapon. In the Caucasus and today, daggers and swords are above all a symbol that a man is ready to defend his personal honor, the honor of his family and his people.
In the Caucasus, dagger is a traditional weapon. Moreover, gun is a symbol. Gorets got it as a child and wore it without taking it off. The dagger is proof that you are a real man, it's a weapon of honor and pride, independence, self-sufficiency and respect, a sign of belonging to warriors.
Songs and poems were composed about the dagger, it was mentioned in proverbs and folk sayings.

06/12/2018 - SAINT NICHOLAS.
, Nicholas, ambassador of the Great,
Even if its ambassadors live.
From Nikoleo, a life-long ceremony.
Saint Nicholas was born in the 3rd century AD. Χ. in Patara, Lycea, from pious and rich parents and acted during the era of the emperors Diocliteian (284 - 304 m. Χ. ) Maximianou (286 - 305 m. Χ. ) and Constantine the Great.

At a young age, he remained an orphan and inherited a large fortune. But Nicholas, inspired by philanthropic sentiments, holds his fortune to alleviate the needy, orphans, the poor, widows, grieving family members.
In fact, one would corrupt his three daughters in order to secure money.
When Nikolaos learned this, he secretly secured the dowry of the three girls in three nights, leaving 100 gold flurries in each. Thus, the three daughters were restored and spared from certain corruption.

He subsequently devoted himself to academic life, but because of his distinctive virtue he was honored, without pursuing it, initially with the office of Priest in Pataras and then with the office of Archbishop of Myra. From this position he led his flock with love and confessed the truth with bias. For this reason he was arrested by the local rulers and sent to jail.

But when Constantine the Great ascended to the imperial throne, all Christians were freed and so Nicholas returned to the archbishop's throne. In fact, he took part in the First Ecumenical Council, where he distinguished himself for his wisdom and moral perfection.

St. Nicholas was also gifted with the gift of the miracle with which he saved many people while he was alive and after his sleep at 330 m. Χ. For example, when once someone risked at sea - due to strong winds - and the name of the saint was recited, he was saved and even while in the middle of the sea was found safe at his home. The miracle was immediately known in the City and the people immediately came to a litany and vigil in order to honor the miraculous Saint.

About the Holy Relics of the Saint

The tomb of St. Nicholas in the Basilica of Bari, was forcefully opened in 1953. .. , during restoration work, on the night of May 5th to 6th. For this purpose a committee was formed by the Pope, with the then-Roman Catholic Archbishop of Bari Henry Nicodemus as President, to whom it was assigned the normal recognition of the tomb remains. At the same time, the cognitive testing and counting of bones was assigned to the Professor of Anatomy at the University of Bari Luigi Martino and his assistant Doctor Alfredo Rougieri.

The Remains in Larnaca floated in a clear, colorless and odorless fluid, which was about three centimeters deep.
Examination of this fluid by the Institute of Chemistry and Health at the University of Bari proved that it was pure water, salt-free and microorganism sterile!
The research proved that this fluid came from the marrow cells of the bone sponges!

The third historic recession took place on the night of 7th to 8th May 1957 Χ. , for the purpose of new identification, counting, anatomical and anthropological study, before the final deposit in Larnaca, after the end of the restorative work. This time Dr. Luigi Venezia also participated in the medical team. The results of the anthropological examination of the Holy Leipsana were impressive. It was found that they belonged to one person and in fact to a man who was about 1.67 tall, was fed mainly on herbal products and died at the age of over 70 years. This person was a white Indo-European race.

The condition of some bones also showed that the person to whom they belonged must have suffered a lot under particularly adverse living conditions, which left marks on him for the rest of his life. Angylotic spondyloarthritis and widespread endocrranial hypertension must be inherited from some wet prison, where he spent several years of his life and even at an advanced age.

Ichnographic facial regeneration, with the method of superskeletal regeneration of the soft parts of the head, also produced spectacular results. The relevant traces published by Professor Martinos are in agreement with the earliest depictions of the saint, that of Saint Mary the First (in Rome, 8th or 9th century AD. Χ. ) and that of the Chapel of St. Isidore, in the Church of St. Mark (in Venice, mosaic of the 12th century AD. Χ. ).

That is, with the examination of the Relics of St. Nicholas, their authenticity was certified, it was scientifically proven to be his smell and also that the passage of time did not diminish the memory of the basic characteristics of his form, as saved by the Orthodox iconographic tradition (person of exercise, gentle, harmonious proportions, high and wide forehead, big eyes - slightly dark - intense chewing, bald). (See. Ant. Markos, "The Remains of Saint John" Nicholas Bishop of Myron of Lycea and their historical adventures; "Orthodox Martyrdom" Magazine Nicosia, f. 44/1994, cell. 98 - 106; English version from the Center for Traditional Orthodox Studies Etna, California, 1994).

Rule of faith and icon of gentleness, Perseverance Teacher, show to your flock, the things of truth; that I may obtain the humble of the high, the poor of the rich. Father Hierarch Nikolae, ambassador of Christ God, save souls Amen.

Halil Patrona, by by Jean Baptiste Vanmour 1730 (Ai slightly enhanced)

Halil Patrona born to an Albanian family in Hrupishta (Άργος Ορεστικό, Kastoria, Greece),
known as Horpeşteli Arnavut Halil after his place of birth and ethnicity but his Albanian compatriots called him Patrona (Vice Admiral). Became a Janissary and after joining a Janissary rebellion in Niš. His followers were 12,000 janissaries, mostly Albanians.
He started a rebellion against Sultan because of Janissaries had not received their salaries for a long time caused unrest within the army. This rebellion, which was started with the excuse of "fulfilling the requirements of sharia", was also contributed by the deterioration of the economy, the increase in the tax burden, the recruitment of Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pasha, who had been the Prime Minister for 12 years, and the opposition cadres that formed against him, innovations that mostly shifted towards the secular axis, the failure of the 1730 Iran expedition to take place and the narrations that the captured cities were sold to the Iranians .

The uprising led by Patrona Halil began on September 28, 1730.
On September 29, the rebels took control of Istanbul. Patrona gave orders to his supporters, organized looting and raids, and began killing those who did not join the rebellion or those whom the rebels did not approve of.

Following these developments, Sultan Ahmet III sent an intermediary from the Palace to ask what the rebels wanted. It was reported that Patrona Halil wanted the heads of 37 people, including the Grand Vizier Damat İbrahim Paşa, to be cut off. In order to take control of the situation.

At the meeting held in Topkapi Palace on September 30, Zulali Hasan Efendi proposed the ex*****on of Grand Vizier Ibrahim Pasha. After the ulema’s fatwa was obtained, towards evening Grand Vizier Ibrahim Pasha and his sons-in-law Mustafa Pasha and Mehmed Pasha were strangled in Kapılerarası. On the morning of October 1, their bodies were put in oxcarts, taken out of the Palace and given to the rebels. The rebels dragged the bodies through the streets of Istanbul and showed them to everyone.

However, a suspicion arose among the rebels that none of these bodies belonged to Ibrahim Pasha. A march to the palace began again, a large crowd gathered in front of the Alay Pavilion. The Sultan had to appear from the window.

Zulali Hasan Efendi and Ispirzade from the ulema were sent to make peace with the rebels. However, Patrona Halil and the other rebel leaders wanted Sultan Ahmed III , who had fulfilled all their demands, to be dethroned. The conciliation committee also agreed with Patrona Halil that the end of the rebellion would only be possible if Sultan Ahmed III were to dethrone. Sultan Ahmed III, who announced that he would abdicate if he and his family were not harmed, brought his nephew Prince Mahmud from the Kafes Kiosk on the night of September 30 and kissed his forehead first; he gave him advice on the sultanate and swore allegiance to the new sultan together with his princes.

The rebels immediately began to organize. Patrona Halil appointed Müderris İbrahim as the judge of Istanbul, his old comrade Nişli Kel Mehmed as the janissary chief, and Urlu Murteza as the chief sultan. The new sultan was forced to make new appointments, down to the most junior post of sheikh of the pulpit, according to the lists prepared by the rebels. Even a Greek butcher named Yanaki, who had lent money to Patrona before the rebellion and provided credit during the rebellion, was appointed to the Moldavian Voivodeship on paper.

Mahmud I tried to send the leaders of the rebellion away from Istanbul with a mission. Patrona Halil rejected the offer of the Janissary Agha to be the governor wherever he wanted with a salary of 10 thousand gold coins, and stated that his aim was not to acquire property, estate or titles, but to remove the corrupt order.

In mid-November 1730, disagreements began between Patrona Halil's staff (mostly of Albanian origin) and the Kapıkulu soldiers, particularly due to the discontent over the privileges granted to Patrona Halil's staff. In order to prevent this, Patrona Halil informed the Sultan that he wanted to assume the position of Grand Vizier Kaymakam.

According to the initial plan, on November 25, 1730, Patrona Halil and his leaders were summoned to the Grand Vizier's mansion to discuss the ongoing 1730-1732 Ottoman-Iran War . However, when he arrived with a large group, he could not be touched and was persuaded to go to Topkapı Palace to be dressed in a robe of honour . In Topkapı Palace, Pehlivan Halil Ağa and 30 of his men were waiting in ambush for the Patrona and the other leaders. When the rebels entered Topkapı Palace from Soğukçeşme, this group appeared upon a signal and attacked the rebels while the palace members watched from the windows, killing 18 leaders including Patrona Halil. (First and foremost Patrona Halil and Muslu Beşe).

When the heads and bodies of the Patrona, his staff and guards were taken out of the Palace in carts, the crowds of rebels were immediately dispersed.

Istanbul was taken under strict control. Albanians, especially those working and living in the baths, were dispersed. 2,000 people were captured and either executed or exiled to Anatolia. Thus, immediately after November 25, the remnants of the Patrona Halil rebellion were ended and the real reign of Mahmud I began.
