We offer private pottery classes & a gallery to shop at. Shop hours 1-5pm Sat/Sun and by appt It is the home and studio of Staci Barron.

The Elora Pottery was founded in 1984, one of the original pottery studios in downtown Elora.

Yesterday I had a phenomenal afternoon with - we have known each other for 27 years as we shared prenatal classes together.
One of the things we love to do is go to the graduating class exposition of the students from

We have to bring the Kleenex with us because we pretty much spend the afternoon bawling in the industrial design department chatting with all of these students that have extraordinary visions. Its a much moving experience to say the least.
I can't recommend this enough.

Yes I did go to the ceramics department. And yes, they heard me when I complained years ago that I came with money to spend and all I came home with was a postcard.
So yesterday I came home with a vase--- ironically, in Spanish, it says along the side,
translated :
GO HIGHER and this was relayed to the artist from her grandfather

OK, I got teary at this booth too

A number of students relayed to me that their majors were in other areas but when they had to take an elective, they chose Pottery and were just loving it ❤️❤️❤️ (more)

I am not sure if OCAD got it together and insisted that these students also take a business course before they can graduate so they can monetize their skills?
Further, I really hope that what they can do, especially for these industrial design students, is haul in some business thought leaders to be in the room when they are presenting their projects. There are some remarkable concepts here, and I mean, full-blown holy mamas these cannot die at this exposition.
Like many university programs we hear often the graduating class are all hired before they even graduate.

These opportunities need to be extended to these students. Kind of like a dragons den or something.

Hey, all of my students looki look: one of canada's great Potter's located near London Ontario has a post about Malcolm Gladwell and 10,000 hours. Many many many many of you will recall that I referenced Malcolm when you found yourself a little shocked as to how humbling pottery making is.
I could've written this, but he did and I thank him for that! Please enjoy and don't forget you can listen to Malcolm's book the outliers through your local library, digital resources download it onto your phone or you can go buy a copy and support this amazing Elmira author who has had and continues to have a stunning career.
If you ever get the opportunity to listen to him speak, please go and also reach out to me so that I can go too!!

❤️ grateful for the Nomination ❤️

Realizing I cannot get "some" of this nomination without the support of volunteer minded people around me. ❤️ THANK YOU ❤️

My family also has given me the space and literally 'time' to others as well.

I famously say around here that I'm not an octopus- you can't be everything/where to everyone and think it's going to go well.

Sometimes it has been my family who have gotten the least of me over the years, trying to lift up others and groups around me.

That being said, I believe in trying to lead by example. And sometimes I have slipped I will admit. 😳

However, I endeavour to do not just 'my best', but to do 'your best'.

In a well supported community we all Win!!

Thanks Glaze Wizard .britt1 for the tip on adding handles while still attached to the bat. Thanks also to my gal in St Marys - for clients out that way who would like to have regular Pottery Classes angela offers them ---for getting me into this new bat system- sold! I'm still cautious about it warping but it's forcing me to clean them up and air them out properly so... 🤪❤️🙏🏻
