Cottonwood Mansion Museum is an Italian-Style brick mansion built C. 1860 by William Holmes Jr. as a private residence.

The mansion was lived in until 1911, when it was abandoned until 1988 when the mansion was bought and restored by Larry Hamilton.

✨We recently accepted a donation from a descendant of Henry Smiley and Lillian Holmes Smiley, and we wanted to share a glimpse of these donations with you all!

🎨Lillian was the daughter of William Holmes Jr. and Cynthia Anderson, the primary residents of Cottonwood Mansion. The single portrait of the man is of Thomas Smiley, one of the sons of Lillian and Henry. The group portrait is of Thomas Smiley and his sibilings, and as you can see, they had quite the large family!

📜We couldn't be more excited to welcome these pieces back to Cottonwood, especially as they help us continue to tell the stories of Cottonwood Mansion. While these family members may not have had a chance to call Cottonwood home, we hope to continue to share their story and give visitors a glimpse into the lives of the family once they left Cottonwood behind.

These volunteers are truly the backbone of Cottonwood and are what make all of our events and happenings successful. Without them, the mansion would not be what it is today.
