Have you noticed the beautiful silk art in our shop windows lately? Marilyn Cook hand-paints these beautiful pieces, inspired by the gardens of her youth and the beauty of the East Coast. Her home studio in Sackville overlooks the Tantramar Marsh, which is another source of inspiration. Drop by to see her silk wall hangings, framed silks, and scarves!

Mary Jane Lundy is a sculptural ceramic artist from East Dover, NS, a short drive from Peggy’s Cove. Her whimsical pieces are based on the natural world around her, from marine life, to birds, to coastal flora. These pieces are slab built and made from Nova Scotia’s red earthenware clay. Pop by to see her new work!

Dreaming of warmer weather? Beach walks, hiking for waterfalls, meandering along rivers and streams? I arranged this art wall as a showcase for the incredible scenery that is “the Maritimes”. We are so lucky to live in this beautiful region. So many new works in!

We are excited to introduce new artist Lora Lloyd to our shop! Lora, a graduate from NBCCD’s textile program, weaves a variety of items, including beautiful handwoven blankets using New Brunswick wool! Her lap blankets are great to cozy up with, keep in the car, or for your upcoming picnics!

We are wasting no time gearing up for a busy season ahead. That means restocks of your favourites, and of course, bringing in new work from talented artists. One of our newest artists, is Denise Burke, the creator of Darla Denise Historical Jewellery!

Denise creates glass enamel jewellery using Canada’s historical one cent coin, from 1996 and earlier. The pennies have copper content needed for glass enamel to melt and fuse, creating these historical, wearable pieces of the past. So many styles and colours! Welcome Denise!!!

We are excited to welcome Caitlin Matthews to our team! When Caitlin is not working in her own pottery studio .ceramics, you can find her at our shop (Tuesdays)!

Caitlin is a native of NS, now comfortably residing in the countryside outside Fredericton with her hubby and two cats! She’s not one to turn down a good diy project, and is already thinking up projects to undertake here at The Artisan District! She is a delight and we are fortunate to have her here! If she looks familiar, she is one of our amazing artists we represent at our shop! Welcome Caitlin!! ❤️

We just received a stunning new collection of wood fired Raku from pottery. Raku is a very unique (and specialized) technique where pottery is fired at low temperatures then put into a closed container with combustible materials that are ignited, causing a reaction that creates these beautiful colours on the surface of the pot. It’s laborious but the results speak for themselves. Thank you Chris for accommodating my many requests for Raku! You did not disappoint!!
