At the time of its founding, the Museum displayed just two private collections, but now the extensive 50,000 square foot complex is home to more than 25,000 artifacts and 10,000 photographs depicting the history of Lambton County. At the Lambton Heritage Museum visitors can discover the only horse-drawn ambulance in Ontario, admire local historical views or walk by the steam engine which supported

the largest industry in Bosanquet for most of the last century. The museum is home to a diverse collection that ranges from Canada’s largest collection of pressed glass to the last remaining stump puller produced by the Peterson Foundry in Sarnia. The museum’s antique engines and stoves include models not known to survive in any other collection, private or public. Disclaimer:

This console radio was manufactured for the General Electric Company by the RCA Victor Company. A prominent feature is the cathedral-shaped cut-out, lined with a golden fabric. The radio is controlled using four k***s: power switch, station selector, volume control, and tone.

The back side of the radio reveals the complex electrical components that help capture a full range of stations and produce a high-quality sound. The elaborate craftsmanship of the cabinet makes it an opulent piece of furniture, showing its importance in the household.

The original sales tag indicates that it was purchased from the Simpson's Department Store in Toronto on February 16, 1939. From 1920 to 1939, large console radios were quite popular. During this time, the first commercial station was introduced, followed by the development of FM radio.

This radio has been selected for display inside the Canatara Cabin. Stay tuned for updates as we work towards putting the finishing touches on the cabin, set to open later this year!

We were pleased to work with Baillie’s Picture Framing in preparing our "Bluewaterland" exhibition. They printed and framed the photographs of the grand prize winner and runner-ups in our sunset photo contest. The Huron Glow Collection looked stunning at our exhibit opening last night. Thanks to Glen Baillie for your support!

Annie Harrison was no different.

Let's "relish" in this beautiful, hand-painted relish dish gifted to her by her daughter and artist Lillian Phillips, back in Christmas of 1928.

Nurses have played such an important role in our community for generations. To honour them during National Nurses Month, we wanted to highlight a cap in our collection, originally belonging to Peggy Smith (1944 - 2023).

Peggy graduated as a radiological technician on May 2, 1964. She worked for 46 years as an X-ray tech, working most of her career with Dr. John Lynch in Sarnia.

Nursing uniforms have evolved over the years. As the profession progressed, practicality took precedence, leading to the introduction of scrubs made from comfortable, durable fabrics. These scrubs allow greater mobility and are easier to clean, reflecting the modern demands of healthcare.

The traditional white dress and cap are often seen as symbols of the past. Now, many nurses personalize their scrubs with vibrant colors and patterns, representing the diversity and individuality of today's nursing professionals.

We had a wonderful time marking the end of National Volunteer Week with a dried flower bouquet workshop at Forest Glen Herb Farm!

Our volunteers donate their time, energy, and passion help bring history to life at Lambton Heritage Museum and the Oil Museum of Canada. To show our appreciation, we invited our volunteers to make dried flower bouquets, learn about our local ecosystem and native plants, and enjoy delightful refreshments afterwards.

Thank you for being such an important part of our museum community. We couldn't do it without you!
