I have been getting some pieces ready to enter in the upcoming LaCloche Art Show!

It is a juried show which means you take your pieces in to see if they are accepted.

The show runs June 27th to July 4th at the Whitefish Falls Community Centre, Whitefish Falls, Ontario.

Paint Class today, was a quiet one as Leah and Lari were concentrating on their portraits...which are coming along nicely!
It gave me some time to work on my Pebbled Beach, Lake Superior which is almost finished.

The ladies were on fire today (our topic was animals, birds, etc.)...
Leah started her layout with 2 moose and ended with one as the one in the bottom right corner needed to be moved in a bit and made larger...but she has a lot of the other elements worked out and we are looking forward to seeing it next week.
Ruth has her beautifully detailed tree trunk background in and started on the 2 small tree trunks (you will be surprised by what else will be going into this painting!
Brenda did a fantastic job as she finished her textured driftwood tree trunk, it looks amazing!
Kelly put her background foliage in and learned how to shade tree trunks so that they look round...she nailed it! What do you think will be perched on the branch?..to be continued.

It was a small class today but we had a great time creating mixed media pieces! Leah put some finishing touches on both of her amazing paintings. The one on the left has a lot of texture and some beautiful metallic paints that have to be seen in person to truly appreciate - from all angles! The colours and style of her still life has a beautiful, warm and comforting, feel to it.
Ruth created this fabulous textured piece using a variety of coloured papers, thick and thin, applied in layers with gel mediums and paints...can't wait to see it finished!

I played with layering tissue papers in the background and then building up the flowers with gel and tissue paper...it's a work in progress and definitely looks better in a frame...to be continued...
