Sarah’s book is a beautiful tribute to the relationship between Jane Austen and her younger brother Charles’s wife, F***y Palmer Austen. Two of Austen’s brother's were posted to Halifax with the Royal Navy. Sir Francis Austen for a time lived at Admiralty House.

- we made it to the end of another week of packing! Half of the packing process has been preparing the artifact crates. Every crate must be lined and padded out with archival safe materials to keep the items that are being stored in them safe. Here are a few photos of our team doing this packing.

Yesterday we achieved a big milestone in our packing process! Thanks to all the hard work being done by our staff, students, volunteers and our military people! Today we shipped off to storage 20 collection crates and we have almost wrapped to pack all of the art collection. Bravo Zulu to our team!

Hier, nous avons franchi une étape importante dans notre processus de préparation ! Merci à tout le travail accompli par notre personnel, nos étudiants, nos bénévoles et nos militaires ! Aujourd'hui, nous avons envoyé en stockage 20 caisses de collecte. Bravo Zulu à notre équipe !

– Check out this great photo of one of the oldest artifacts in the collection being packed. This window was made to commemorate the founding of the Halifax Dockyard but also highlights the change from a Royal Navy yard to a Canadian dockyard. Thank you to all of our military members who have been working hard to help us pack the museum!

Découvrez cette superbe photo de l'un des plus anciens artefacts de la collection en cours d'emballage. Cette fenêtre a été réalisée pour commémorer la fondation du chantier naval d'Halifax, mais aussi pour souligner le passage d'un chantier naval de la Royal Navy à un chantier naval canadien. The packing continues… the other day we packed our signature ship badge wall. Many visitors over the years have commented on how much they love seeing all the badges and the unique history that they represent. It was sad to see it packed, but like many items in our collection it is only farewell for now.

Le bagage continue... L'autre jour, nous avons rempli notre mur de badges signature. Au fil des années, de nombreux visiteurs ont commenté combien ils aiment voir tous les badges et l'histoire unique qu'ils représentent. The process of organizing, packing, and leaving the museum is no small task! At the helm of this endeavor, which as been named “Operation Ghost Town” is our Collections Manager, Ariana House. She has been responsible for the plan and the movement of the collection. In honour of this task these new morale patches were designed and created by Ariana as a thank you to all our military members who support us at the museum.

Le processus d'organisation, de rangement et de départ du musée n'est pas une mince affaire ! À la tête de cette entreprise, qui a été nommée « Opération Ville fantôme », se trouve notre responsable des collections, Ariana House. Elle a été responsable du plan et du mouvement de la collecte. En l'honneur de cette tâche, ces nouveaux écussons de moral ont été conçus et créés par Ariana en remerciement à tous nos militaires qui nous soutiennent au musée.

The packing continues! Today we are starting the process of crating the art collection. It is sad to see the collection come down, but one day these beautiful peices of art will be back for everyone to enjoy!

L'emballage se poursuit ! Aujourd'hui, nous commençons la mise en caisse de la collection d'art. C'est triste de voir la collection démontée, mais un jour, ces magnifiques œuvres seront de retour pour le plus grand plaisir de tous !
