Rallies are happening across NS today!! Letters in support of our cause are also very important. Please take a few minutes to read this message from the Association of NS Museums. Thank you.

Museums urgently need your support! The proposed 2026-2027 provincial budget has already led to the closure of twelve provincial museum sites and would represent debilitating 20% reductions to 70 Community Museums as well as 10 locally managed provincial sites. This is in addition to stripping the sector of dozens of essential grant programs. These museums are more than stewards of knowledge, they are community gathering spaces, drivers of economic growth and community hubs. Please write to your MLA, MP and CC both the Premier’s and Minister’s offices, to show your support for these incredible organizations TODAY.

- Museum Memories: Railway

The Dartmouth-Waverley-Windsor Junction line of the Inter-Colonial Railway first opened in 1896. While being built, the line caused some concern as it crossed onto the property of the Acadia Powder Mill Company. To ensure the ground didn’t contain any explosive materials, extensive land surveys took place.

The last passenger rail service to come through Waverley ended in 1953, and the Waverley train station was closed that same year.
