Perkins House Museum

Perkins House Museum Perkins House, built in 1766, offers a glimpse of life in colonial Liverpool when the harbour teemed with schooners, sailors, and privateers.

It is now a museum dedicated to preserving local heritage.

📖 • On This Day in Perkins Diary

On Sunday, May 27th, 1781, Simeon Perkins writes in his diary the following…

"Pleasant day. The Black Flies are remarkably Plenty & very Troublesome."

🌱 • Perkins had been hard at work in his gardens and remarked that the black flies had been very bothersome. Perkins wrote in his diary that he had planted blond potatoes, oats, beans, corn, pumpkin, squash, and cucumbers.

🌱 • We know that Perkins grew much of his own food, had livestock such as pigs, and planted an apple orchard behind his home!
