A quick reminder that the Melfort & District Museum will be closed on Monday for Labour Day.

We love welcoming student groups to the museum and were so happy to have our friends from Suncrest College visit yesterday!

The group enjoyed a tour, a wiener roast, and time exploring the museum.

It was also great to welcome back Edward Stonestand, one of the students and the artist behind the mural on our Indigenous Peoples & Archaeology Building.

Thanks to Lori Constant and Mackenzie Kleiboer for helping make the visit happen!

We mean it when we say that we have the best volunteers! In less than 24 hours, our amazing volunteers have been busy:

* promoting the museum at the Activity Expo
* building Christmas displays
* repairing our outdoor oven
* helping finish our new buildings

There’s always something happening at the museum, and there are lots of ways to get involved!

Interested in volunteering? We’d love to have you join us. Volunteer once, help with a specific project, or get involved throughout the year — whatever works for you!

Thank you to all of our volunteers who continue to give their time, talents, and energy to the museum. We couldn’t do it without you!

We love welcoming out-of-town visitors to the museum!

Recently, staff and participants from Kin Enterprises joined us for a fun day at the museum. They tackled our museum scavenger hunt, dressed up in settler clothing, and had some fun taking vintage photos in our Photo Booth!

Our Settler Village is open until the end of September, so there’s still plenty of time to stop by, explore, and take some vintage photos of your own.

Admission is by donation. We’d love to see you!

Join us tomorrow night from 5 - 6:30 p.m. for our final Museum BBQ of the season! 🍔🎶

We’re ending the summer on a high note with Bortis Family and Friends providing the entertainment!

As always, $10 gets you a cheeseburger, drink, and ice cream treat - but we’re adding a few extra goodies for our final night! Our volunteers will be firing up the outdoor oven and serving fresh samples of bread, cinnamon buns, and pizza for just $2 each. 🍞🍕😋

Come on out, enjoy some great food and live music, and help us wrap up another wonderful BBQ season!

Where has the summer gone? ☀️

Friday was a sad day at the museum as we said farewell to our wonderful summer students. Thank you, Anastasia, Caitlyn, Jorja, Micayla, and Sarah, for all of your hard work, enthusiasm, and energy this summer!

They were involved in just about every part of museum life. A few of the highlights included:

• Providing guided tours for school and community groups
• Planning and leading our Time Warp Children’s Programming
• Helping with community events, including National Indigenous Peoples Day, Canada Day, Fair Days, and our weekly BBQs
• Conducting research and interviews for the Treaty Walk Project
• Helping care for and document our museum collection
• Taking care of our buildings and grounds

We are so grateful for everything you contributed to the museum this summer. Good luck as you head back to university - we miss you already! ❤️

What a lovely day for a wedding!

We were so happy to host a beautiful wedding ceremony at the museum today. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs.! Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness. 💕

We wrapped up our final Time Warp sessions yesterday with a bang — and a few water balloons too! 💦🎈

A huge thank you to our summer students who planned and led the fun weekly sessions, and to the 75 kids who joined us throughout the summer. We loved seeing everyone at the museum and hope to see you next year!
