TODAY is the FINAL day to get your land-based writing submission in! Five selected works will be made into plaques and installed along LAC trails over the next week. Come hike the trails, explore the historical home, and get inspired!

"Words To Wander To: Your Writing At Leighton Art Centre" is open to all genres of land-based writing, including poems, stories, and creative nonfiction under 300 words. All submissions must respond to nature in some way. The intention is to encourage visitors to explore their natural surroundings and to create engagement with the art and words they encounter while there.

The completed project will be unveiled at our Clothesline Art Market on June 6 & 7. Submissions are now open on Unleash Press' website: https://shorturl.at/ugukX or check out the link in our Linktree. NOTE: Submissions are subject to a nominal fee of $3.00 USD to cover contest costs.

We are thrilled to feature Michelle Wiebe as the live artist at the 2026 Harvest Supper Fundraiser. Specializing in painting, printmaking, and letterpress printing, Michelle’s work is known for its bold colour, striking line work, and celebration of simple subject matter inspired by the natural world and we are so excited to share a one-of-a-kind print she is creating for our event.

Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to witness Michelle printing the collection of limited-edition fine art reduction linocut prints inspired by her many walks on the 80-acre Leighton property. Each one hand printed with subtle variations that make every piece one of a kind. Using a vintage tabletop letterpress, Michelle will print and sign each piece onsite while sharing an engaging history of how Alberta’s landscapes and the art of letterpress printing come together.

These limited edition, Leighton-inspired prints will be available exclusively for purchase as a special fundraiser item, with each freshly printed artwork signed by Michelle during the event. Guests can also explore Michelle’s special Letterpress Pop-Up featuring original limited-edition prints.

Join us for an evening filled with great food, one-of-a-kind art, and stunning foothills landscapes on Saturday, September 12. Tickets on sale June 1.

There's just over a month left to submit your exhibition proposal! Each year, we invite emerging and established artists, as well as collectives, to propose indoor or outdoor exhibitions that respond to our extraordinary setting where art and nature meet.

Exhibiting at Leighton means showing your work in a historic gallery space surrounded by 80 acres of Alberta landscape, engaging visitors who come specifically to experience art in this one-of-a-kind environment.

If you have an idea you’ve been waiting to share, this is your chance. Review the submission guidelines on our website and send in your proposal before July 5. More details can be found on our website here https://shorturl.at/f8fQQ or check out the Exhibit with Us tab in our Linktree.
