MANDATE
The VAV Gallery is a democratically-run student exhibition space located in the Visual Arts building at Concordia. We seek to reflect the excellence and diversity of artworks created by students to both the university community and the public at large. The VAV seeks to support emerging artists by acting as both an exhibition space and as a resource center that offers workshops, lectures b
y visiting artists and special exhibitions such as the Annual Undergraduate Exhibition and Graduating Students Exhibition. Students actively participate in all of the VAV’s activities by volunteering their time, sitting on a selection jury, and by assuming the positions of VAV Director and Gallery Technician. Située dans le pavillon des arts visuels, la Galerie VAV est un espace d’exposition dirigé par des étudiants qui opère de manière démocratique. Notre mandat est de mettre en valeur, face à la communauté universitaire et au grand public, l’excellence et la diversité des œuvres produites par le corps étudiant de Concordia. La Galerie VAV cherche à appuyer des artistes émergents en agissant autant en tant qu’espace d’exposition qu’en tant que centre de ressources offrant: des ateliers, des présentations par des artistes invités et des évènements spéciaux tels que l’exposition annuelle des étudiants ou l’exposition annuelle des finissants en beaux-arts. Les étudiants sont les bienvenus à participer au fonctionnement de la galerie en tant que bénévoles, comme membres du jury de sélection, ou en assumant le poste de Directeur ou Technicien de la galerie. As well as the regular exhibition schedule, the VAV also hosts a variety of special events and projects throughout the year.
