Born in a family of artists of all genres, Claire Cayer has been surrounded by art since birth. Her grandfather, among others, has been a great inspiration for her. He was a talented sculptor, renowned for sculpting altars of many churches, including the altar of the beautiful Notre-Dame Church in Montréal. Her grand-uncle was also an artist as a virtuoso saxophonist. As well, her entire family is
composed of lovers of music and dancing. At the age of fifty-seven, she finally decided to return to her soul’s desire. She studied oil painting for about a year and was quickly able to sell her art-work from there. Also, bored with working for a non-artistic purpose, she quit her managing career to devote herself entirely to painting and to the teaching of her art, which she has done with great success, joy and passion for the last fifteen (15) years. Mainly self-taught and true to her heart, she likes to follow the spur of the moment and limit herself to a minimum of « rules of art ». She does not hesitate to follow new paths, improvise and explore different styles and techniques, which she has learned to master quite easily. She enjoys, among others, the beauty of landscapes, cities, still-lives, animals and abstract paintings. She has this renowned ability to handle light and colors with finesse. With all of this together, Claire Cayer is known as an artist who is truly appreciated by her numerous clients, as well as a teacher who is unanimously trusted by her students for the ability to respect and adapt to the artistic personality of each individual.
