Nelson Electric Tramway Society

Nelson Electric Tramway Society Streetcar 23 runs mid May to mid October seven days a week from 11 am to 5:00 pm. Young and old, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Situated along the lakefront, in beautiful, Nelson, BC lies a historical marvel. Streetcar #23 is a fully functional streetcar that was once in use here in Nelson in the first half of the 20th century. Once the backup streetcar for the defunct Nelson Street Railway, it has had a colourful history. The Nelson Electric Tramway Society, along with The Chamber of Commerce, Royal Bank, and Selkirk Coll

ege restored this Streetcar, and the Society provides a scenic ride along Nelson’s waterfront. The society is all volunteer driven, and our streetcar is one of Nelson’s most interesting attractions. We invite you to come for a ride, and share in the wonderful history of the Queen’s City.

Trolley will not be operating on June 24 due to the FIFA viewing event at Lakeside Park.

Nelson is hosting official viewing parties and community events for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The centerpiece is the "Canada Celebrates" outdoor fan experience at Lakeside Park on June 24.

Streetcar #23 has been in Nelson for over 100 years! In 1924 the City of Nelson purchased the streetcar and we are celebrating the fact that in 2026 it is still here, running fine and delighting everyone who hops on board. So grateful for all the volunteers that make this possible!
