In our area, it has been an exciting Spring for the Baltimore Orioles. Every year, just like clockwork, they show up right around Mother’s Day and linger for about a week before moving on. This year however, from my own observation and noted arrival, they were a week early, with multiple birds appearing rather than a single migrant going through. And, the exciting news? They are still here, male & females! Which indicates to me that they are establishing territories in our area. I still have multiple birds regularly visiting my feeders throughout the day. So even if you haven’t seen one in a while, leave your feeders of jelly, orange halves (mine seem to prefer clementines 🙂), suet (ones with fruit added are a favourite) and meal worms out to entice them to stay. I am continuing to observe for any breeding behaviour. Please let me know of your sightings, it will give an idea of where they are concentrating. 🧡
