Artist Open Call – Made in Canada:
The Flag That Connects Us All

We’re now accepting submissions for Made in Canada, a juried group exhibition at Summer & Grace Gallery in Oakville, running from June 30 – August 30, 2025.

This exhibition invites Canadian artists to reflect on the Canadian flag as a symbol of place, memory, and identity.
Whether through realism, impressionism, abstraction, or contemporary styles, we’re looking for work that expresses what the flag means to you — in your own voice and visual language.

Selected artists will exhibit alongside celebrated Canadian artist CHARLES PACHTER, whose vibrant and imaginative works have helped shape the way national symbols are seen and felt in Canadian visual culture. Known for his striking use of colour, bold compositions, and iconic imagery — from moose to monarchs to the Canadian flag itself — Pachter’s work continues to leave a lasting impression on the story of Canadian art.

In addition, three artists will be awarded a place at the Powagen Retreat in Muskoka, held from August 26–28, 2025.
Set on a beautiful lakefront property, this immersive two-night residency offers time for plein air painting, reflection, and creative exploration — meals included, prepared by a private chef.

Submission Details:
– Open to Canadian artists
– $20 per artwork (non-refundable)
– Unlimited entries allowed
– No size restrictions
– All work must be original (no reproductions or AI-generated content)
– All work must be hang-ready (clean edges or framed with hardware)

Accepted Media:
– Oil, acrylic, and mixed media on gallery-depth canvas or panel

Not Accepted:
– Watercolour, pastel, prints, photography, sculpture, or any work requiring glass covering

Key Dates:
– Submission deadline: June 15, 2025 at 6:00 PM
– Notification of acceptance: June 16
– Delivery of accepted work: by June 24
– Exhibition dates: June 30 – August 30

Most recently she served for five years as board chair of a leading public contemporary art gallery.
