This past Friday, we joined the Lighthouse for Grieving Children and Families to honour and celebrate the incredible group of volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Week.

Jason Dockeray, Executive Director, expressed gratitude, stating, "At The Lighthouse for Grieving Children and Families, we simply could not do the work we do or reach the many children and families who rely on us without all of our incredible volunteers." He thanked the volunteers for their unwavering dedication, compassion, and the time they contribute week after week.

One of the recent restoration projects at the museum involves an Ostrander-Seymour Co. chute board, traditionally utilized to square up blocked plates or smooth the rough edges of metal processed through the sawing machine. A surprise delivery arrived today: the December 2025 Yellow Pages for the Burlington area. At approximately 200 pages, it is a mere shadow of its former self compared to the hefty 2006 edition for the same geographic location. Once a vital resource for businesses and community needs, the printed directory transitioned from a key source of information to a riser stand for computer screens in the early 2000s. As for the skinny 2025 edition, we'll have to find a novel use for it.

It rekindled the anticipation and joy of opening a new book on Christmas morning. The collection features lovely, poignant stories of Christmas in Atlantic Canada.
