Meet our new friend, Chip Walker, resident of Rochester, N.Y., rail enthusiast, photographer, and donor to our Museum. It was a joy to welcome Chip on May 20, 2026.
Chip has donated a complete set of Canadian National Railway employee timetables to the museum along with a copy of the "Official Guide to North American Railways", dated February, 1946.
The employee timetables provided detailed information on each CNR railway line, including speed, weight and clearance restrictions, the location and length of sidings, distances between stations and other data pertinent to the jobs of locomotive engineers, conductors, brakemen, stationmasters and other employees. The 1946 "Official Guide" contained current (as of the publication date) passenger timetables for every railroad then active in Canada, the USA, Mexico and Cuba. It also provided the contact information for each railroad's executive management.
On May 20, 2026, Chip and his wife Denise made the trek from Rochester to Palmerston to personally donate the items, which Chip had owned for many years. The items were originally in the collection of Chip's late father, Charles, who was employed by a major railway supplier in the years following World War II.
