The Old School House Arts Centre

The Old School House Arts Centre Your community arts centre home to artists & musicians & the people who love to celebrate them. The Board of Education used the building until 1985.

The Old School House Arts Centre houses ten shared Resident artist's studios and is an established public art gallery and art learning centre. Three galleries exhibit Vancouver Island talent, and creative educational programming for all ages and abilities are held throughout the year. The Gallery Gift Shop features the work of over 150 Island Artists. The music program offers a robust concert seri

es throughout the year featuring an eclectic range of genres from acclaimed musicians. The Old School House is a non-profit charitable organization that provides vibrant community programming that is open to all - regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religious affiliation, financial status, age, sexual orientation, political belief, or physical limitation. Our History:

The Old School Arts Centre heritage building was built in 1912 and served the educational needs of Qualicum Beach for both elementary and secondary school until 1952, when a new secondary school was built. The building reverted to an elementary school only until 1976, when a new school was built. As the wrecking ball swung closer and closer to the building, dedicated citizens of the community banded together and formed a non-profit cultural association. With the help of many volunteers, countless hours of hard work and fundraising events, the building was renovated and opened to the public in February 1988

Last Friday, TOSH hosted our second fundraiser of the year as part of the Phil Dwyer & Friends Jazz Series — and honestly, this one will go down in history for us.

An incredible evening of music, collaboration, conversation, incredible food, and community filled the gallery as Phil Dwyer, Maninho Costa, Laura Crema and Allan Johnston brought absolute magic into the room. Nights like this remind us why live music and the arts matter so deeply to a community.

A huge thank you to our generous supporters and sponsors who helped make the evening possible: for the beautiful canapés and desserts, Rebecca and the entire team at Moments Hospitality Collective, The Burns Family, , and all of our volunteers, staff, donors, and community members who came out to support the arts in Qualicum Beach.

The energy in the room was something really special.

And apparently the community agrees… because our next TWO shows — September and November — are almost sold out already. If you’re hoping to attend, now’s the time to grab tickets before they disappear.

Thank you for continuing to show up for the arts, for live music, and for TOSH. 🎶
