Come Sing With Us!
Whether a beginner or a seasoned singer, join us for Music@TheMuseum and a unique opportunity to participate in a traditional, a ca****la group singing experience called shape-note singing.
Talented musician and singer Romy Munkres, along with Ray Knorr, Rowen Gallant and Tom Gammons welcome you to the Farmers’ Bank Museum in Rustico on April 22 for a loud, joyful, heartfelt, and wonderfully communal evening of singing.
You don’t need experience, training, or even the ability to read music—just the desire to lift your voice with others.
You will be guided through simple “shape” notation and then settle into the warm, powerful sound of four-part harmony sung from the heart. Join us for an evening of learning, singing, and community. Come as you are, bring your curiosity, and discover why people have cherished this tradition for generations.
We’d be delighted to have you in the square!
While all four now call PEI home, Romy, the evening’s leader, is from Vermont; Ray is from Saskatchewan; Tom from Montana and Rowen from Rustico. Over the last few years, they have frequently found themselves sharing tunes at dances, sessions, and other music events, and soon discovered a shared love of accompaniment, harmonies, and spontaneous arrangements across a wide variety of styles. With influences from Métis fiddle, Acadian, French Canadian, Scottish, Appalachian, Scandinavian, and other European traditions, the trio share a curiosity and a love of finding the thread that connects these musical styles.
