It may not look like spring yet, but thankfully, art can captivate our imagination.
This late 19th century coloured woodcut captures the Japanese springtime. Subtle pastels and intricate line work celebrate the skills of Kichirobei Yamasaki (1847-1917); a well known Osaka based antique dealer, publisher and art connoisseur active during the late Meji period in Japan.

Kichirobei is best known for his detailed kimono pattern books, which were illustrated with his woodblock prints-the best known are held in major collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum.

“Three Kimono Studies” -coloured woodblock print on paper, 8.3” x 10.2”, framed, $600

We are open 10-3 Monday to Friday & 10-3 Saturdays.
