Where does the spoon go when you’re finished? Is there a proper way to stir your tea? And what exactly are the rules when you sit down for High Tea?

We’re bringing in someone who knows.

Tea Etiquette Teacher Pamela Cormier will join us for Autumn High Tea: Tea, Tales & Traditions and take us through the charming customs and sometimes surprising rules of proper tea etiquette.

Pamela’s love of tea began with the English side of her family. She went on to run Vintage Tea Parties throughout the Okanagan for eight years and became a Certified Tea Etiquette Teacher through the English Manor school in London, England.

We have a feeling some of us may have a thing or two to learn.

Don’t worry. There won’t be a test.

Come for the tea. Stay for the tales. Mind your manners.

If you're coming just for lunch, stop at the entrance and pick up a complimentary visitor's pass. There is no admission charge to come in and

Of course, once you're here, you may decide to stay awhile.

Summer may be winding down, but Haney isn't finished yet.

September is one of my favourite times to explore R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum. The days are a little quieter, the pace is slower, and there is still plenty of time to wander through the Heritage Village, visit the Museum Gallery, explore the Children's Museum, walk the trails, or tour Haney House.

And if lunch is what brings you our way, that's perfectly fine too. Stop at the Sprig of Heather Restaurant and ask for a complimentary visitor's pass. There is no admission charge when you're coming in just for lunch.

We also have some great events planned throughout September, so the season is far from over.

What would bring you to Haney this fall: exploring, a walk on the trails, lunch at the Sprig, or one of our September events?

What exactly was underneath all those layers? 👗

Getting dressed in the early 1900s wasn’t quite as simple as opening the closet and deciding what to wear.

At Autumn High Tea: Tea, Tales & Traditions, Curator Morgan Ryder presents Dressing Miss Halpenny.

Starting with the undergarments and working her way up, Morgan will dress Miss Halpenny layer by layer while sharing the stories, fashion tips and surprising details behind what it took for a woman to get dressed for the day.

Miss Halpenny was the schoolteacher at Broadview School, which now sits right here at R.J. Haney Heritage Village.

It’s a little history, a little fashion and a lot more interesting than simply looking at an old photograph.

And that’s just one part of the afternoon.

Come for the tea. Stay for the tales. Mind your manners.

For one night, we're letting Executive Chef Hans make dinner plans for you.

And he has planned four courses.

Harvest Celebration begins with Ahi Tuna Tataki on crushed avocado, followed by Thai Chicken Satay on Pancit noodles.

Then comes the main event: Asian Braised Lamb Shanks with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and fresh farm-market vegetables.

And because a special dinner deserves a proper ending: Opera Tart.

At Harvest Celebration, dinner isn't something you have before the event.

Dinner is the event.

Join us Sunday, September 13, at R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum.

Tickets: $80 + GST
Optional Wine & Cider Pairing: $21 + Taxes

There's something special about gathering around a campfire to hear a good story.

On September 5, we're bringing that tradition to the SASCU Amphitheatre for the Cowboy Campfire Show.

Rob Dinwoodie and his 3-piece band will fill the evening with live music, cowboy poetry and stories of the cowboys, cattle drives and characters of the BC West, with our propane campfire glowing on stage.

It's a brand-new show and a great reason to spend an early September evening at Haney.

This September, we’re giving one of our favourite traditions an autumn twist with Autumn High Tea: Tea, Tales & Traditions at R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum.

Executive Chef Hans is creating a special autumn-inspired High Tea menu, Curator Morgan Ryder will take us beneath the layers with Dressing Miss Halpenny, and Tea Etiquette Teacher Pamela Cormier will have us brushing up on our High Tea manners.

Add pots of tea, music by Lawren Clark, a little friendly competition and the colours of September at the Village, and we have the makings of a very special afternoon.

Come with a friend, gather a table or make it an afternoon out together.
