This might be a long shot, but does anyone remember Bob “Huck” Mitchell? Hillcrest has some photos from the 1930s, and we’re hoping to identify a few of the people in them. Thank You

As the curlers gather for another year of Survivorspiel, we are taking a moment to celebrate the long history of curling in our community.

Curling has been part of life in Souris since 1896, when the Souris Curling Club first affiliated with the Manitoba Curling Association. In the years that followed, Souris hosted bonspiels, built new rinks, and gathered around banquet tables to celebrate the sport and the friendships it created.

From the first bonspiel in 1898 to opening night at the new rink in 1948, curling has always been about more than the game. It has been about community, connection, and showing up for one another.

That spirit lives on in Survivorspiel.

To everyone curling this weekend, thank you for carrying on a tradition that has been part of Souris Glenwood for generations.
