PAINTING POETRY WORKSHOP ✨

During this workshop, participants will explore how poetry can be inspired by visual art with Mavis Penney, a visual artist and writer based in Happy Valley Goose Bay. The session will focus on understanding how descriptive writing can deepen your connection to a painting and uncover its meaning.

Participants will be guided through selecting an artwork of their choice, reflecting on it, and shaping their ideas into a poem by condensing their thoughts into an expressive and essential form.

On Saturday our Artist in Residence, Rae Swan, gave a wonderful artist talk and demo in the studio! 🎥💙

It was so cool to see what they've been up to, and to learn more about their practice. Rae spoke about their experiences with lens-based work, and showed us a demonstration of the gloss gel photo transfers that they've been doing while at EE. Attendees even got a chance to try it for themselves! 🖌

Thank you so much to Rae, and to all of the folks who came out for the event. This is Rae's last week at Eastern Edge, and while we're very sad to see them go, we feel so lucky that we got some special insight into their work!

Ever since AAMP started in 2005, the Association for the Arts (AAMP) has been encouraging people to explore their creativity and have fun with the arts. They are located in Mount Pearl and most of their events and activities take place at The Annex which is located next to Admiralty House Museum on the corner of Mortimore Drive and Old Placentia Road. AAMP says "We want more art happening in our City but our artists and our audiences are from all over the place. We welcome everyone to come and play with their creativity at their own comfort level."

If you enjoy the arts, there’s room for you in AAMP.
