DAVID BLACKWOOD RCA, "Gram Glover's Tree on Bragg's Island (1999), etching and aquatint, 15 x 18 in.
"As a boy visiting my grandparents on Bragg's Island, I remember a small willow tree at the front gate. It grew in very sparse soil and was enclosed (to protect it from roaming sheep, goats, and pigs!) My Uncle Edgar Glover tells me it came from Deer Island as a slip and was planted beside the rock in the late 20's. This same tree is shown in the etchings 'Molly Glover on Bragg's Island' 1997 and 'Granda Glover on Bragg's Island' 1991. The tree on Bragg's Island struck me as a wonderful symbol of rebirth, renewal, and regeneration." David Blackwood - November 1, 1999.
