Help us celebrate an incredible milestone!

Today marks 20 years of Shannon Reid working at the Craft Council Shop!

For two decades, Shannon has been a welcoming face for members, craftspeople, and visitors from near and far. Her warmth, humour, generosity, and deep commitment to Newfoundland and Labrador craft have left a lasting impact on our community and on so many of the people who have walked through our doors.

Through changing window displays, endless zhuzhing, and countless conversations with makers and customers alike, Shannon has been a steady and passionate champion for local craft and the people behind it. The Craft Council Shop would not be what it is today without her dedication and care.

We’re hosting a drop-in celebration today at the shop and would love for members, craftspeople, friends, and community supporters to stop by, share a memory, grab a treat, and help us say THANK YOU for 20 amazing years.

Can’t make it in? Leave a comment below and help us celebrate Shannon and all she has contributed to our community over the last two decades.

Please find the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Strategic Framework for 2026–27 in the link below.

This framework was developed by the Board of Directors with input from staff and support from a strategic planning consultant. It is grounded in feedback from our membership, conversations with craftspeople across the province, and a shared commitment to strengthening the craft sector in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Strategic Framework is intended to provide clear direction for the organization over the coming year by identifying the values, priorities, and areas of focus that will guide decision-making, planning, partnerships, programming, and resource allocation across all areas of the Craft Council.

The framework is not intended to function as a detailed operational plan. Rather, it serves as a shared foundation that staff, committees, leadership, and volunteers can use to help align their work with the broader goals and long-term vision of the organization. It has been designed to encourage thoughtful decision-making, stronger collaboration across departments and committees, and a more coordinated overall impact for the craft sector.

As this is the first iteration of an annual Strategic Framework, we recognize that it will continue to evolve over time. We welcome feedback, questions, and ongoing conversations as we continue refining our work and identifying opportunities for sector development.

04/06/2026

"Transformation is part of deep time, when life hangs like a question mark, fragile and always changing. Sometimes a single moment, a single breath, in a single day can determine a life but it can also take years and decades to form a life. The process of transformation allows us to live in the continuous present as we know we will not be the same person tomorrow that we were today. In the symphony of breath, confidence takes centre stage, each inhalation a declaration of self-assurance, and each exhalation a release of doubt. The arithmetic of life can be looked at as continuous subtraction or as continuous transformation. In the cadence of each breath, there is an unwavering pulse that harmonizes with the ever-shifting melody of life. When parts of our life run thin like the transparent chrysalis of a butterfly there is room for transformation, change, growth, movement –a breathturn."

To learn more about Monique’s screen-printing practice, join us this Saturday April 11th at Craft Council Gallery. Details and registration available at https://www.ccnlgallery.ca/ .
