The Stirling Historical Society maintains and hosts the Michelsen Homestead, a provincial historical site located in the northwest region of the village. Membership in the Stirling Historical Society is opened to all residents of the village and surrounding area. This is our online meeting place, where we organize our activities, share ideas, and publicize our mission. The Stirling Sunset Society
was organized in the 1970s, and with the help of the Alberta Government, it created and published Stirling Its Story and People, a book dedicated to the pioneers and settlers of Stirling area from 1899-1980. Within the same year, Stirling was dedicated a National Historic Site of Canada, an honor only given to two other communities in Canada. In 1999, Stirling celebrated its centennial year, and with the help of the Theodore Brandley Library, it published Stirling Speaks: The Stories: Volume One. This was an oral history of early generations up to the 1960s with a view of one day publishing a second volume. Join Us
