"I was with a Plein Air group this summer and we painted in the backcountry behind the 6th Bridge in Jasper. It was a little cool and windy but still a nice experience."

Jasper's Path to Renewal - Watercolor 140 lb Arches - 11 X 14 - This image was captured south of Jasper Park Lodge in the aftermath of the wildfire. The fresh growth among the burned landscape showed how powerful nature's resilience can be.

Artist Nancy Holst
Watercolor Creations by Nancy
"I started painting in my early twenties using oil paint on wood and glass. I continued with tole painting then changed to acrylic medium. I did this for several years when my three sons were very small then I hung up my paint brushes for about ten years to work and raise my family. Later, I resurfaced into the art world only this time I challenged myself with the medium of watercolour. I have joined two art groups and paint together with like minded artists in workshops and gatherings. I continue to play with this medium knowing that watercolours have a mind of their own but that is what keeps intriguing me. I mostly enjoy painting landscapes and flowers."

Winter Silence: Watercolor 140 lb Arches 9 x 12. Going for a walk on a trail through the bush I became aware of the complete stillness and quiet. I took several pictures of the different trees and tried to capture that stillness in my painting.
