Throwback Thursday: 118 years ago today

This is the Taber Free Press, September 3, 1908 - same date, well over a century apart.

Front page news: the province was pushing farmers to organize creameries (400 head guaranteed before the government would step in), the Alberta-Pacific Elevator Co. had just opened a new grain warehouse in Taber, and Men’s Felt Hats were on special for 75 cents at the Taber Trading Co.

Down in the Locals column, the whole town was gearing up for the big Labor Day Garden Party & Supper on Rev. J.R. Munro’s lawn - married ladies vs. single ladies baseball, a boys’ bag race, and supper for 35 cents.
