Our Story

Artbarn School has been helping people discover their inner artist since 2005, when Linda McMaster first envisioned a welcoming not-for-profit art school. Since then, Artbarn has inspired hundreds of budding artists of all ages. They've used up buckets of paint and tons of clay in their classes, workshops, school-break camps & birthday parties. Linda says, “We give both accomplished artists and terrified beginners a place to learn, relax and create. I passionately believe in the power of art at any age. It enhances your life and cognitive skills by stimulating creativity and building fine motor abilities. You expand your potential whether you’re 1 or 91.” Recently, Artbarn brought colour to construction at John Fisher P.S. with a dot mural on their green fence. As well they worked with Oriole Park P.S. students to create fish and learn about environmental issues for a wall mural. Allenby Gr. 6 students came to the studio to create a grad legacy mural. Artbarn offsets declining art education through involvement in public schools. They even offer scholarships that help talented lower-income children afford art classes. “My team, family and community have helped me do what I love and share it with others.”

Artbarn is a not-for-profit art school in Toronto on Eglinton Avenue West in midtown Toronto. We offer art classes for adults and for kids as young as one year . The variety of art classes for adults includes watercolour, oil painting, drawing, printmaking, clay and mixed media. Adult workshops are also offered throughout the year. Children's art classes are tailored to be age appropriate and include drawing, painting, mixed media, clay, Mini MiniArt, cartoon and comic drawing and a variety of relevant themed classes. We also cater to parties and offer winter break, march break and summer break camps. We also offer birthday parties and rent our space for events.
