🏳️‍🌈 “Canada True North Strong & Gay” 🍁

This month, we're proud to feature a powerful installation by artist Chris Rouleau, created as a tribute to the 2SLGBTQIA+ trailblazers who paved the way for q***r communities across Canada.

At the heart of the piece is a restored and recreated version of the iconic “Canada True North Strong & Gay” banner, hand-painted by Chris, honouring a legacy of pride, resilience, and activism.

Adding even more depth, the backdrop features a historic photograph from 1971, sourced from the Archives, providing a striking visual connection between past and present.

Also on view is the artist’s statement, where Chris expresses his heartfelt thanks to ONE Properties for their generous support of the exhibition.

Don’t miss this moving fusion of history, identity, and art on display now!

We’re excited to present Pilot Episode, a captivating series of paintings and drawings by artist Francisco Alvarez. Here is Francisco’s artist statement:

"Pilot Episode This selection of recent work presents portraits from my Dead Celebrities series (2020-2024) plus a larger, more abstract experimental work on corrugated cardboard. My process is to first create an abstract colour background using thin layers of acrylic paint without knowing what the overlaid image will be. After drawing overtop in pencil, I am often surprised at the intricate interplay between the layers. Francisco Alvarez is an artist and curator. He is co-founder of the Throbbing Rose Collective and President of Axis Art Projects."

Now featuring at The Window: "TOP OF MIND" by Moira Ness ✨🎨

Join us as we showcase the compelling work of Toronto-based artist Moira Ness, whose ascetic and conceptually driven practice explores personal history through relentless archiving, pattern generation, and poetic text.

By data-mining her own correspondences and connections, Moira transforms her archive into confessional and romanticized works that push the boundaries of storytelling and self-reflection.

🔹 NOW ON VIEW AT THE WINDOW 🔹

A Study for Being Alone with Yourself by Eric Farache challenges the ideal of masculinity—once carved in timeless marble, now molded in mass-produced plastic. Inspired by Greek sculpture and the "toys for boys" of the '60s and '70s, this site-specific work reinterprets classical forms through vibrant, laser-cut plexiglass, flattening the heroic into something ephemeral and commercialized.

Plastic, unlike marble, is fluid, disposable, and ever-changing—just like the evolving concept of masculinity itself. Through bold color and transparency, these works blur the line between strength and fragility, permanence and mass production. Are these figures symbols of power, or just reflections of nostalgia and consumer culture?

🌟 Experience "The Bodhisattva Trilogy" by Arnie Guha (Acid4Yuppies) at The Window

Join us for an extraordinary exhibition that delves into creative unlearning, the core philosophy behind Guha’s transformative work.

At the heart of this show is a digital triptych that invites you to dissolve conditioned perceptions and embrace the interconnected nature of existence. Drawing inspiration from Guha’s Indian heritage, non-dualist Vedanta philosophy and the electric pulse of the '90s rave culture, "The Bodhisattva Trilogy" challenges us to see the self and the universe as one.

Guided by Timothy Leary’s iconic call to "Turn on, tune in, drop out," this vibrant, psychedelic masterpiece reflects the timeless Vedantic truth: all distinctions are illusions, and all is one.

🌈 Let Guha's mesmerizing aesthetics ignite your senses and spirit. Discover how art can inspire, heal, and transform.

✨ TWO-SPIRIT PRIDE FLAG BY PATRICK HUNTER ✨

We’re thrilled to share that The Window’s final installation of 2024 is now complete!

This remarkable installation highlights the work of the talented artist Patrick Hunter Art & Design who recently unveiled the official Two-Spirit Pride Flag at the Human Rights Museum in Winnipeg.

As we step into 2025, we celebrate a milestone: the creation of the first-ever Two-Spirit Pride Flag, beautifully crafted by Patrick Hunter to honour the 35th anniversary of the term “Two-Spirit.”

This flag is far more than a design—it’s a tribute to cultural identity, resilience, and the harmony of Two-Spirit individuals within the LGBTQ+ community.

Key elements of the design:
🪶 Two stylized eagle feathers symbolizing the balance of masculine and feminine energies.
☀️ Giizis (the sun) represents the infinite nature of our spirits.
✨ Circles of visible light celebrating the movement, magic, and ancient traditions of Indigenous art.

In Patrick’s own words:
“We walk Turtle Island with these two perspectives at all times, and if they are in harmony, we can achieve anything.”

Come see this awe-inspiring piece for yourself—it’s a celebration of identity, connection, and the beauty of diversity! 🌈
