Fundraising

As we continue to navigate the NS Government Heritage funding cuts backs, your friends at the Malagash Heritage Museum are working on plans to increase our fundraising activities. From small to large initiatives.

We are please to announce that you can donated your recycle deposit refund at the the Tatamagouche recycling centre to the Malagash Museum.

When you drop off your recycling, just state you wish to donate the funds to the museum.

Museum Assistant – Summer Position

Program: Canada Summer Jobs
Term: July 2 – August 29
Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Wage: $20.00 per hour

The Malagash Heritage Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Museum Assistant to support the Museum Curator during the busy summer season. This position offers a valuable opportunity to build workplace skills, gain hands-on museum experience, grow professional networks, and make a meaningful contribution to the local community.

Responsibilities

Welcome and assist museum visitors

Provide friendly customer service and answer visitor questions

Assist with daily museum operations and exhibits

Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment inside the museum and outdoor park areas

Perform light outdoor duties and grounds-related tasks in the museum park

Support special events, programs
, and community activities

Assist with administrative and promotional tasks as needed

Qualifications

Must be between 18–30 years of age and eligible under the Canada Summer Jobs program

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Positive attitude and professional manner
Enjoy working with the public and community engagement

Reliable, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team

Interest in local history, heritage, or museums is considered an asset

This position works closely with the Museum Curator and provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in the heritage and tourism sector.

We are more than a museum. We plan and host community events. We support food bank drives for Malagash. We manage the Community Park.
