As our summer season comes to a close, the Board of Directors for both the Museum and the Tournament would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our summer students as they prepare to return to school this fall. We truly appreciate all of their assistance, and we wish them the absolute best of luck in their upcoming studies and future endeavors!

MUSEUM HOURS UPDATE

Notice to Our Visitors
Effective Saturday, August 29, 2026, the Wedgeport Tuna Museum will be transitioning to our winter operating schedule. The exhibit galleries are now closed for general walk-in public admission. We will reopen for general admission to the public next spring.

The morning café, Fisherman’s Rest, remains open year round.

Guided Tours Available by Appointment Only:
We continue to offer private, guided tours during the winter season. To schedule a tour, please contact us at least 72 hours in advance.

The tuna museum is greatly appreciative to receive 2 donations recently in the name of a deceased relative.

1. Pictured below, Claire LeBlanc of Massachusetts made a donation in the name of her late father, Delphis LeBlanc who was an avid tuna fisherman.

2. The family of the late Carl LeBlanc made a museum donation from the proceeds of an estate yard sale during the recent Wedgeport Community Yardsale.

We wish to sincerely thank both families for their donations and for supporting our tuna museum.

If anyone wishes to donate to the museum, as a registered Canadian charity, we would be happy to provide you with an official charity receipt for tax time.

WINNERS for NAME THE TUNA CONTEST!

As announced yesterday at the closing ceremonies of the 2026 Wedgeport Tuna Tournament and Fesitval, the winning name for our new replica tuna was voted in by our followers.

The name of the tuna will be....FINN

The name will eventually be added to the exhibit (still to be determined).

Three people submitted this name and will be awarded a prize (available at the museum's gift shop): Curtis Doucet, Marlene Doucette and Karen Malo.

Note: We also awarded consolation prizes to others who had submitted derivatives of the name Finn.

The winners have been sent an email (or a reply to their Facebook post)

We will accept your submissions to name our new tuna replica until Wed, August 19th at 12:00 (noon).

The winner will be announced during the closing ceremonies of the tuna festival this Saturday.

MUSEUM EXTENDED HOURS

This year, the tuna museum will be extending our open hours during tuna festival week as follows:

Tuesday, Aug 18th: 9am to 8pm
Friday, Aug 21st: 9am to 8pm
Saturday, Aug 22nd: 9am to 4:30pm.

All other days, we will be open for our regular hours: 9am to 4pm.
