"I'm Feeling Myself". 2025

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the limited identity boxes and limitations society tries to put us based on generalisation.
The identity category as one would be supposed to pick one label, one side, one version of ourselves that fits neatly on a form without making space for individual experiences.

Real life, well lived is so much wider, more layered, more complicated than that.
My life is so complex and none of it fits into a single box. Yet I’m still being asked to choose and tick some boxes.

I am multiple. I am nuance. I am a path, not a predefined square, a misbehaving square on a grid.

💕 When we were proposing works to bring to NY, this piece "Heaven's Door" was one of my first choices. I also had a moment of doubt, wondering if I had made the right choice. ✅️

Looking back, I am certain I did. This piece was significant in my journey of the past year as the framing was a new addition to my work, breaking the strict order of the grid that had served as a mechanism of order in a chaotic moment of my life.

So it's been a ride. 30 hours of driving in 2 weeks, from Québec city to NYC to Toronto. Of course, the highlight of this trip was spending a week in NYC and having our Canopy group exhibition in the Canopy's studios in Chelsea.

I want to thank all the members of my cohort for your friendship, empathy, and honesty. I can't wait to talk with you again 🩵 .princessa
