Hey folks! Sissiboo Landing is in full swing since May 9th with lots of planning going on behind the scenes! We are thrilled to have three awesome new team members this summer!!! Music on the Sissiboo bands are chosen (shhh, secret’s safe for now!). We’re planning Friday Night Markets (more exciting info on that soon) and the gift shop looks amazing with local talent. Plus, we’re refreshing the upstairs Cultural Center for summer visitors. Lots more coming—stay tuned!

☀️ It’s shaping up to be a FANTASTIC summer—and we’re building our team (x3)!

We have 3 summer positions available and we’re looking for youth ages 15–30 to join us at Sissiboo Landing.

No two days are the same around here—there’s always something happening, something new to learn, and lots of community!

If you love community, meeting people, and want a summer job that’s actually fun… this might be for you 💛

Another great day at Sissiboo Landing celebrating African heritage and community!

We kicked things off with Barbara Roberts and her sidekick Andre with her fascinating presentation on Kwanzaa — it was both informative and inspiring. She also brought along her beautiful Afro Nova collection, featuring stunning African jewelry, tapestries, and outfits that everyone loved exploring.

Next up was Germaine with his much-loved dancing session. He shared how dance has always been part of his life — especially growing up watching elders in Weymouth Falls dancing together and seeing firsthand how music brings people together. He reminded us that dance is more than just movement — it’s community, it’s staying active, and it’s a powerful mood booster. After all, it’s pretty hard to be cranky when you’re dancing!

Thank you to everyone who came out — both events were wonderfully attended and so well received. And a huge shout-out to the planning committee at Sissiboo Landing for making it all happen. 💛

Celebrate African Heritage Month with us at Sissiboo Landing! ✨

Join us for the second FREE event in our month-long celebration of culture, history, and community:

📅 February 28 – Cultural Presentations

🕐 1:00–2:00 PM
Barbara Roberts presents on Kwanzaa, sharing African artifacts and serving a sample of the traditional drink Sorrel.

🕒 3:00–4:00 PM
Germaine Langford leads an engaging session on the health benefits of dance, followed by fun line dancing for everyone!

🍪 Light refreshments will be served.

Come celebrate, learn, and connect as we honor African heritage and the vibrant stories that continue to shape our community. ❤️

WOW — what a day! 🎉
Our African Heritage Month Open House at Sissiboo Landing was packed with smiles, learning, connections, and amazing food!

Huge thanks to Weymouth Falls Community Land Trust — Shekara and her mom came all the way from up above the city to celebrate with us and share their excitement. We appreciate you so much! ❤️
